English Fern Sample? Nearing my wits' end

I posted this in the WTB forum, but after re-reading it, it seemed more appropriate in this forum. Sorry mods - feel free to delete the post from whichever forum it doesn't belong:

OK, I'm getting desperate.

I tried it once and didn't care for it, but I can't get the scent out of my head; I need to try it again, but can't find a sample. I asked Penhaligon's for a sample of English Fern. They sent me just about everything BUT English Fern. I asked my brother for the remaining previous sample vial I gave to him, but he threw it away. I emailed Badger Decants a month ago and haven't heard back.

*sigh*

I really want to try EF again, but all I find is samples vials on ebay going for $8.99, which seems high to me for a little vial.

Does anyone have any wisdom about how I can acquire a reasonably priced sample of this prized and respected juice?

I would call penhaligons and simply tell them what happened - that you had specifically requested English Fern and received everything but.

They've always been very generous with me.

Actually, they didn't send any EF because (according to the nice note they included) they were out of it EF samples.

I'm sorry - I should have included this detail in the original post.

If you search for "cologne decants" there are a couple vendors around here who sell small sample sizes - badgerdecants.com and The Perfumed Court come to mind.

I don't think badgerdecants is still doing decants. The OP has already tried, in any case.

Contact this guy: [email protected]. He sells decants of lots of different fragrances (not sure he does EF, but he probably does). I have bought from him before and his service is top notch.

Mudassir is a respected Basenoter, and I'm sure he can help you out, but DO try Penhaligons again - you really can't beat a whole envelope of free samples!

If memory serves me right, I've received three jam-packed envelopes of Penhaligons samples, all via a simple phone request. One of them included every single male AND female scent - all beautiful carded samples. (and on that note, if any of you would like your girl to smell as good as you, I highly recommend Ellenesia, Lily of the Valley, and Bluebell!)

English Fern is one that I've been toying with the idea of buying for quite a while, but my main problem is that I won't commit until I smell some Trumper's Wild Fern! Just dragging my feet, I guess. It's not like I NEED any more cologne!
