What's new

End of an era ?

My first deodorant purchase back in 1961 was a lilac scented round ,very moist cylinder stuffed into a round clear glass cylinder bottle with a metal screw cap....didn't work too well, but looked and smelled great...I always did like the cylinders, and there used to be plenty...my local markets have dumped the cylinder of old spice, and replaced with the flat container that has been around awhile...the flat one now clearly states "original round stick formula".....so I am wondering if this spells the end for the cylinder of old spice ??

Yeah, I wondered about this some months ago when they put the OS cylinder on super sale at my grocery store like they were closing them out. Well, it appears they did.

They sell them in these flat things now like so many other companies do. I think this is driven by retailer demand to be able to jam more stuff on the shelf.

Also, if you notice, it's very difficult to place one of these flat things back on the shelf and deal with them as they all collapse like dominoes. Perhaps it's a trick to make the customer buy his first choice.

I have seen cologne companies producing cylindrical anit-perspirant. Lacoste and Givenchy come to mind. But those are about 25 dollars a stick .

yes ! you are right ! the very expensive stuff that has the exact same formula, but with a "designers" name emblazoned on the face, sells for 10TIMES more $$$...I won't pay !
