End Cap and Solder Question

I've searched through posts enough to get an idea that missing end caps can be replaced if a donor razor or cap is found. So far, I've only found references to using epoxy to secure them.

Has anybody tried to re-solder them a la the original Gillette method?

I have a pretty beat Aristocrat coming from the BST with a LOT of plating loss and missing an end cap. I've thought about sourcing another end cap and going for a re-plate, but I'm just trying to figure out the best way to re-secure an end cap.

Epoxy just seems a bit less secure, though I guess nothing is 100% since the soldered ones have fallen off over the years.

Btw, if you have a really beat donor super speed or extra end cap for a 40s Aristocrat, I'm your man. :001_smile

If your soldering skill are up to snuff there's no reason you can't resolder them on.
On a Aristocrat a person might not want to heat it up an risk damaging the clear coat.
Actually epoxy probably more then strong enough.

If you are going to re-plate,heating to re-solder is no problem.
