EJ Sandalwood

Hi all,

I bought an Edwin Jagger Best Badger brush from The English Shaving Company a while ago, and recieved a sampler of their Sandalwool shave cream, and a small puck of Sandalwood soap together with it.
I've been using the soap in my rotation, and even though it lathers quite good, the thing I REALLY like about it, is the scent.
But what has got me confused, is that their cream sampler has a completely different, way less attractive, scent in my opinion! Even though it should also be Sandalwood scented cream. The color of the puck of soap has a hint of pink/purple in it imo, while the cream looks rather greenish.
So, are these really the same scent, or has something gone wrong with one of them?

Thanks,

Hey Bruno, welcome to the forum.

Could it be possible that the samples were mixed up? My EJ Sandalwood smells pretty nice, a synthetic-sandalwood scent similar to AOS's. Color is white.

I notice the Sea Buckthorn sample I have is slightly greenish and certainly doesn't smell anything like sandalwood. Maybe they got mixed up somehow?

I thought about that too, but I don't have any other Sea Buckthorn/Sandalwood products, so I can't really compare. And since I don't really like the scent of the cream, I'm not really keen of buying something I might not like, if the scents did indeed got mixed up.

If in doubt, you could always shoot a quick message to EJ and let them know that your sandalwood sample is funky. I've had some excellent customer service experiences with EJ / English Shaving Co., I bet they'd send you a new one.

Best of luck!

Nice idea!

What other brands offer nice Sandalwood soaps/creams? As I'll probably buy another one after this sample, and I suppose the Sandalwood scent is the same over different brands.
