EJ/Muhle heads exactly the same?

Sorry, I know this is not a new question, but...

I have a Muhle R41 and an EJ DE89L, so if I put the Muhle handle on the EJ DE89L...do I have a Muhle R89? Are the Muhle and EJ 89 heads exactly the same or is there some slight difference?

I haven't checked if the threading matches, but am assuming it does.

Thanks.

Yes, they are identical heads. Muhle makes the heads, and sells them to Edwin Jagger.

They only very in handle design, which also makes the overall weight of the razor a little different as well.

hmmmm.....I have the same razors. The R41 is an open comb and the EJ89 is a closed comb - so they're not identical. The EJ safety bar is thicker and heavier. The threads on both handles are identical so you could swap the handles.

The old Muhle R89 was an open comb, the new Muhle R89 is a closed comb, just like the EJ 89L. If you put the new R41 handle on an EJ 89L head you would have the new R89.

The new closed comb heads on the Mühles (89 & 106) and EJ's (89) are the ones that are identical. The new R41 open comb head is coming from Merkur (like on the classics and the '1904') and the old open comb heads on the previous (till november '08) Mühles are in fact rebranded Fatips with a different open comb design.

To keep it simple Mühle kept the old names for in fact totally different razors.

Ah...I see the confusion I created. Clearly the R41 and and DE89 have different heads. I was asking if the R89 and DE89 have the same head. If so (and it looks like it is so - thanks to michiganlover and talibeard) then I could put DE89 head on my R41 handle and have a R89.

Phew...that's a mouthful.

Thanks for confirming, I like the handle of the Muhle razor much better. I prefer lightweight razors (I think I'm in the minority here) and grip is amazing.

Muhle razors are nice razors but the Edwin Jagger aren't to be undersold. Anyway, you're buying a quality product when you buy a Muhle.
