EJ DE89L vs. Muhle R89 handle

I was wondering - for anyone who's used both, how much better is the Muhle R89's handle than the EJ DE89L's, assuming you think it is indeed better? I love my DE89L, but the part I love least is the handle - it's not always comfortable to hold on to, especially if it or my fingers are wet.

I guess what I'm really asking is if it's worth upgrading or if the difference is small enough to not really be worthwhile for a DE89L owner. If I got the Muhle I'd probably sell my EJ, since they have the same head.

I've had both and wound up giving my EJ to my son.
I much prefer the Muhle handle.

As always, YMMV

I think it's a YMMV thing. I bought an R89 because I superlather with Cremo Cream often and it makes my hands very slick so I wanted the knurled handle. Though, I love the look of the chrome handle on the EJ. From what I hear, the EJ handle performs equally as well.

I have the Muhle R89 and I got it over the EJ because I preferred the look of the handle more. I usually rub my fingers on my alum a little to give extra grip while shaving so the razor slipping on me with wet hands isn't really a problem. You might want to give that a try first instead of spending the money just for a different handle.

The knurling on the R89 is very shallow and pretty smooth, so it doesn't provide much more grip than the DE89L already has. It does look better, in my opinion. It's also quite a bit lighter than the DE89 handle. I still can't decide which I prefer.

You can mail the handle to mer and have him fill it with lead shot.
invisible and adds the beef.

+1 for the Muhle
I like the way it feels in my hand, too - when I hold the EJ89L, I feel like there's something missing between the lines.
