Edwin Jagger DE89L ---> $26.58 shipped to US

An amazing piece of craftsmanship is only $26.58 shipped to the US.

Can't pass up a deal like this. Have no idea how long it lasts.

The link you provided leads to a page with a purchase price of $31.90 (unlined) and $33.54 (lined). Is there a coupon you used to get your price?

The exhange rate at the time of my post is: 1.44815 USD to GBP

Edit: Nevermind, other posts suggest they deduct taxes on checkout. That brings the price down. :thumbup1:

Yep.. I also purchased mine in GBP and let the bank sort out the exchange rate. $26.58US was the total that was billed to my bank.

Thanks for the tip. My bank also gave me the fair exchange rate. The spot rates on their site are pretty off: 33.54usd/21.50gbp=1.56 (should be around 1.45 today)

The market has been in turmoil this week resulting in a stronger dollar. The exchange rate modifier on their database is probably updated manually by someone once a week or at some other randomly picked point when they get around to it after checking their Facebook page.

I ordered mine a couple of days ago. It's my first DE razor. I can't wait. I'm thinking about ordering an EJ BBB as well even though I have a Semogue boar brush on the way. Tough decisions.

I'm waiting for mine to arrive!

By the way, I think the prices on the site include value-added tax )VAT), which is deducted from sales to the US.

Yes, you are correct about that. The price comes to 18.20gbp after deducting VAT. So for all those who haven't caved in already, google the exchange rate and multiply it by the 18.20 price to figure out your total cost (note: your bank might sneak a 3% fee for the exchange).

Here's the real gamble: is anyone gonna wait till next week or so, in the hopes of a stronger dollar? Could mean an even better deal (unless the dollar swings the other way of course).

What about the "knurled" version of this razor? Was that the older version and now the current models are either lined or plain chrome?

Is this the one you're talking about? If so, its a Muhle R89. Similair in many respects to the EJ89.

At that price, I think I need a backup! You never know, I might wear out the current one in 60 or 70 years.

That is a very convincing argument

I have been thinking for good reasons to order one as I have the Muhlles R106 (the black handle) and the R41 (the open comb model) - now I have a perfectly valid excuse!

Thanks!

Wim

Thanks for the pointer! This is now razor number four inside of a month. Don't know what the DSM-IV says constitutes RAD but hope I'm not there yet!

Just placed an order. Came out to 18.30GBP (26.60USD). No VAT and free shipping to Canada. Good deal. Had a similar good experience ordering from Trumpers.

yeah, that's the one I like. Don't see it on the EJ site at all though...oh well, I do see some other things I will have to get before this sale is over.

They Muhle is more than $20 more and the only difference is the knurling on the handle and the word Muhle at the bottom of the handle.

If the price difference were closer I would go with the Muhle. $20 more on a razor that is just $25.00 seems a bit steep to me.
