Eclipse date range??

I am wondering if anyone can put a date range with an Eclipse razor? The head looks like an Improved knockoff? Thanks!

It would appear that your Eclipse was originally patented in England on 5-Mar-1931; British patent #344280 by Whybert Victor Hudson and John Leslie. It was manufactured by James Neill & Co. Ltd, Composite Steel Works, Napier St. Sheffield England. I find no reference to actual manufacturing or sales dates. The razor had a magnet on the end of the handle to help in safe handling of blades.

The razor was packaged in various hard cases and also in a leather wallet and a leather pouch. It is pictured on page 13 of the L-W price guide with the leather pouch.

Tom

It does have a magnet on the handle (I never would have looked!) According to the case, it is a Model MM. Thanks again!

Thank you so much! What is the L-W ??

The L-W Price Guide is a Safety Razor price guide that was published by L-W Book Sales of Gas City IN, in 1995. It is a large format, soft cover book of 160 pages loaded with good color pictures of safety razors.

Unfortunately, the book is out of print, but you can sometimes find a copy, perhaps used, on Amazon Marketplace.

Regards,
Tom
