So, I bought a couple of ebay specials and one in particular is well beyond my capabilities to hone to a decent edge. It's got a frown, heavy hone wear and some chips from the edge.

Is anyone willing to take a crack at it for a fee? I'll pay postage both ways.

In order to level out that frown someone is going to have to do a lot of work making the razor's blade "Smaller" to actually level out the frown. Good luck and enjoy the razors.

I just don't think i can consign it to just the display case; it's such a beauty, and i'd like to get it functional.

Don't worry, honing it out is doable just be prepared for the razor to be a little smaller.

I had a chat about honing razors with my old (now retired) barber, who first cut my hair over 40 years ago. He said he always held the razor at a 45-degree angle to the direction of travel on the stone to avoid "making the razor unhappy." He went on to explain that a straight (90-degree) pass would cause the center of the blade to hone-out faster, making a frown.

I hope he is right . . .
