Ebay Seller

Free market, and all. If somebody with more money than sense wants to spend 200 clams on that razor, more power to the seller.

I thought direct links to live auctions were verbotten.

This certainly explains his point of view that it's our B/S/T prices that are skewed, and that eBay's often ridiculous prices are market value.

In his defense he does have a Best Offer option. But the bin price is too high for a used Fatboy even if it does have cards. There have been NOS higher then that. But this is not a NOS.

Yeah but what can you say??
"how about 50 for the Fatboy, because that's how much you paid for like 20 razors... right?"

I don't have anything against him selling, but to sell ONE razor 4 times the price he paid for a whole lot????

I do believe opportunities are to be taken when given, but there's a limit.

In the end I don't care about what asking price anyone lists razors for. If someone gullible pays that price, it's up to them to care.

I only posted to let the OP and anyone else who wanted to show this guy "the business" , whatever that is anyway (?), that this guy will be reading all your posts.

I hate seeing these absolutely absurd BIN prices on e-bay. They only serve to raise prices in general. Thanks to B&B and B/S/T for the hobbyists and no-thanks to e-bay "rescuers" and price-rapers with the absurd BIN sales. Seems like more and more of these absurd BIN sales are popping up. Probably the desperation of the economy and/or new people following in the footsteps of the previous few who prey on the uneducated and impatient. Caveat emptor.

Most of the razors you see from specialized sellers come from large lots like this. Most of the nickel plated Gillettes have very good plating and clean up pretty good. They bring pretty good prices because everybody wants one. The problem here is you know what the lot cost.

I have had no problems with ebay or the B/S/T most of the time. It's not that either system which in inherently bad. It's just from time to time in both you get clowns that are time wasters because they price things too high*. Most of the time people price things fairly though, or let the market decide using an auction. All my razors came from ebay cheaper than most other sources.

*Same could be said for B&M antique/second hand stores.

^ edit: I dont think the problem here is that we know how much the lot cost. Who would pay $200 for a fatboy even if we thought the seller paid $150 for it?

I agree 100%. I don't care how much it cost him. I'm not paying $200 for a Fat Boy just because it's in a case. If someone else does, good for him. He tripled his money.

Not offended at all. I know the price is too high. I don't expect to get it. But I do believe I'll get much higher offers than your regular uncased fatboys. I've been looking around and haven't even seen one with warranty card, or at least none that mention having it.
The ridiculously high price gives me the opportunity to check out my buyers first, whereas a lower price or auction format would leave me stuck with whatever buyer snags it. For a higher dollar item like this it helps protect me from some of the undesirable buyers.

I understand your point, and respected.

(and since I'm looking for one) How much would you consider a fair price, or an offer you would consider?

No idea. For the time being, I picked a number out of the air am using that as a counteroffer this month. If it doesn't sell this time around, I'll use that number as a starting point instead.
