eBay removed my Gillette listings!

So, I cleaned out the den yesterday and posted a bunch of fragrances, ASB, etc on the B/S/T. I took all of my stockpiled Gillette Fusion blades (bought during various sales at Walgreen's and Sam's to catch a better price back before I converted back to DE) and listed them on eBay. One listing sold on buy it now, one has bids on it currently, and eBay removed my other two listings. They said it was due to "concerns about my account." I called. The customer service rep asked why I was selling them below "market value." Are you kidding? Then she asked where I bought them and if I had receipts to prove ownership. We're talking about a total of 28 cartridges in various sized packages from the removed listings. I tried to explain to her that I no longer use multi-blade cartridges. She said she would forward my appeal. I just received an email from the appeals dept who said they reviewed the case and have confirmed that the right decision was made. In the email, she referred me to a page that discusses the prohibition on counterfeit items.

So, Gillette blades are overpriced. I try to sell my unopened leftovers on eBay. I'm told I didn't ask enough money for them. And of course, their decision is final and I've been warned not to relist them. I've been an eBay member since '98. I've rarely sold anything but I've bought a lot. I suggested that they look at my buying history to see safety razors, straights and DE blades. Perhaps I'll have to B/S/T these blades...

Frustrated!

they must have just been bored. browsing around for someone to pick on. i recently sold 2 Bulova watches on ebay. i paid $180 for one and $300 for the other. they had their normal wear on them after 10 years of use but still sold for $10 and $22. maybe Gillette has taken an interest in ebay for selling their cartridges so cheap, wouldn't surprise me.

I am surprised unless Gillette has a full time employee that polices eBay looking for counterfeits being sold.

I know that the wife wanted to get some Disney DVDs and every one she bought on eBay was a bootleg/counterfeit. Ebay limited her account and said she was sending back too many items but did nothing to the sellers of the counterfeit items. I tried to talk her into forwarding eBay's messages about her issue to "The Mouse". It would be nice to see eBay as a wholly owned subsidiary of the Disney Corp after they got done with them :001_smile

Ebay works in mysterious ways.

By all means put the shaving related items on BST...

I would but figured there would be more love for multi-blade Fusion stuff on eBay. I just posted a bunch of fragrances, etc. yesterday and have to wait two weeks between postings in B/S/T, so I listed them on the bay last night.

Also, strange but they left my posting of the regular Fusion blades alone and just took down my listings of Fusion Proglides.

They might. Corporations have whole departments nowadays that monitor counterfeiting pretty closely. Carts are indeed counterfeited for obvious reasons (cheap to counterfeit with a high re-sale value). However, without any evidence that a seller either has in the past, or may be selling fake goods, a listing should not be pulled. That is pretty unfair.

Exactly my point and what I tried to express to the eBay customer service person. Since '98, I've only sold about a dozen things. I've purchased thousands. There is no record of questionable activity or complaints, and I have a 100% feedback rating. And, as I said, there is even a pattern of buying DE/wetshaving stuff.

Would not be surprised at all by Gillette monitoring this activity, but I am totally surprised that Disney hasn't taken a stronger stand against it.

Cartridges are the most shoplifted item from most pharmacies, it's not surprising that eBay is on top of potentially fake and stolen ones.

This would be the reason. A great many of the genuine cartridges on ebay are stolen. I guess this is their heavy handed way of policing that issue.

Didn't know they did such a thing. Need a receipt? Wow. Sorry to hear that but as othefs have expressed various points I won't add to it. Bst will definitely help you to some degree. Their policy seems heavy handed. Good luck.

In one area I lived every bottle of detergent at Walgreens had "Walgreens" written on it with a black marker. Fort Worth has a large flea market that is really little more than a place for people to sell stolen radios, rims, and health and beauty products.

Top stolen items when I was working retail theft were razors/blades, pregnancy tests, medications, formula and alcohol.

Somes stores lock them up these days. Speaks volumes about how rediculous the prices are.

My first thought was that Gillette somehow had something to do with the listings being pulled.

I never knew ebay had a policy of pulling your product if you didn't sell it for " market value ." How do they police items that are bidded on? Do I have to shill bid my stuff, if bidding doesn't reach "market value" to save my account from being closed?

I don't understand why the OP can't sell his stuff for whatever he wants.

I heard on the news a while ago that people were stealing laundry soap like crazy! loading up carts and just going right out the door or back door. i believe this was in the Nashville area, some stores were putting security devices on them.

Back in my cartridge buying days my local walmart had the great idea of putting all their razor cartridges behind glass and making you track down an employee to get it out for you. Then they made you go to a specific register to purchase cartridges, then after a month or so they were just back on the shelf as normal. Unfortunately many theft deterrent strategies cost more than they save.

surprisingly at the top of my shrink report was writing instruments (pens, pencils, markers) followed closely by ink/toner cartridges.

shrink is shrink in the retail world but i suspect the ink/toner cartridges were the true item being stolen whereas the pens/pencils were being used by employees and/or incorrectly stocked.

I work for a company that makes fashion accessories, etc. We have people that watch EBay for counterfeits and for employees selling items (it's verboten because of some of the discounts we get). It would not shock me if Gillette had someone who watches that stuff and cries to them about low pricing.

This goes for high end watches too. These get flagged on a forum I'm on and poof the item is removed from listing. This is obviously done to protect the buyer and ban the seller. Especially when your charging 5k for a fake reproduction watch and trying to sell it as the real deal. But it's scary how close they are getting to the real thing!
