Ebay insanity reaches new heights

The high bidder has a feedback score of 1. Probably a form of scam. Its never happened to me with a razor, but I sold a Sony PSP to a buyer from "Nigeria". They purchased the item and wanted me to cash their check and refund them the amount over they had written the check for. I wish these were the prices I have about 8 in my case :001_tongu

The last two bidders appear to have been sniping. Hard to believe that there were two screwed up snipe bids on a single auction. Fraudulent bids perhaps.

Nope, no sniping here.
A snipe is a high bid in the last seconds of an auction, giving other nibbling bidders no time to respond.
These high bids came with a full 2 minutes left, and the price didn't climb that high all at once. Several successive high bids by the same low feedback bidder in the final minutes finally exceeded the second highest bidder's proxy, which had been set over an hour before the end.

I see two possible reasons for this. One was mentioned before. The old nigerian scam where they send you a fake payment and ask you to refund the difference.
The other could be the seller trying desperately to avoid completing the sale, for whatever reason... maybe the item was lost or damaged, maybe he didn't like something he saw in the high bidder's feedback and didn't know how to block and cancel bids.

The seller also has a "rare" one up for sale, and the listing reuses two pictures, so who knows what the buyer will get.

I feel like it is a punchline that you never hear the joke...Why would someone bid $90, let alone $750 or $2475 on THIS razor?!

That is messed up.
