Duke 2 in Best vs. The Vulfix "Hyde Park" 514b

The Simpson Duke 2 in best and the Vulfix 514b in pure badger form part of my regular rotation. The Duke has a bigger knot, and is very dense. A good compromise between firm and floppy, and can both soap and cream lather. The 514b has a smaller, less dense knot. The Duke is significantly more expensive than the Vulfix. Over the last couple of days I have compared face lathering with Proraso soap. Somewhat surprisingly, the 514b may have outperformed the Duke. The Duke seems to absorb the product and it struggles to relaease it, whereas the other brush seems to offer all the product. Anyone else had the same sort of experience?

I only have a Duke 2. I find it releases lather exceptionally well compared to my other brushes. If the Vulfix is floppier it may have easier flow-through, but to me, that is not the most important aspect of a brush. How it feels on the face is the major test for me. In most opinions pure badger is considered prickly, but if that's not the case for your 514b, the better for you.
