What's new

DSLR camera's in your future.which one(s) do you want ?

DSLR cameras are wonderful machines..interchangeable lenses, much in the way of accessories...capable of excellent photo's...if you know what you are doing.

Three question I think are interesting for shutterbugs or aspiring photographers:

  1. Do you have a DSLR or plan to get one in the future ?
  2. If you have a DSLR do you plan to buy a new one in the future and what make/model and why that particular make/model ?
  3. If money was no object....what DSLR and accessories (lenses, etc. ) would you buy...and why ?

1. I have a Nikon D70s.

2. I love it and have no intention of buying a new one.

3. I'd love to get the micro-Nikkor 85mm 1:1 macro lens and a Nikkor 10.5mm Fisheye lens

I have one

I just bought it - canon 600d.. The 650 just came out so you can get a great deal on it

I'd go nuts on all the L lenses. All of them. (that is a lottery situation)

I've got a D40 and a few lenses currently.

I'll most likely be getting whatever succeeds the D7000. A friend of mine got one, I've gotten to play with it, and I like it a lot, but it's been out long enough that I can wait for the latest and greatest. With the apparent leap in sensor quality on the newer D3200 I would imagine that the upper-end DX bodies will be quite something once they're out. I've already got a decent compliment of lenses and don't feel like I'll ever need full-frame capability, so it's a good settling point for me.

How about a full Hasselblad setup with some crazy digital back? That'll have you set for quite a while.

I have a Nikon D90 with some very good glass.
I am waiting (albeit impatiently) for what I am hoping will be a D400 type release. If Nikon refuses - I may end up going to the D600.

I've got a Nikon D3100. With it's HD video capabilities it's the perfect intro to DSLR camera's. I have no intentions of buying a different base, but will be investing in some lenses.

Quick story, I bought this the month we found out we were pregnant. A friend sent me a book called "How to be a Mack-Daddy"...owning a DSLR was one of the priorities.

Dana Jones: [after Craig punches Deebo out] He thinks he's the Mack...
Mr. Jones: Hehe. Macaroni.

1. I'm currently shoot with a 5DMkIII, L series zooms and macro, and the 40mm pancake.

2. I'm very happy with my current setup, but the new 24-70 2.8L looks very nice.

3. If money were no object I'd love to own the upcoming Leica M with several lenses.

I currently own a Canon 40D.

Im not currently considering an upgrade. Id like to go full frame but my 40D currently does everything I want it to. Its the glass not the camera that you want to invest in. Maybe in a few years ill finally pull the trigger on a full frame.

If money wasn't an issue Id load up on L-Lenses, studio lighting, Carbon fiber tripods. But realistically my next lens purchase will probably be the Canon 24-105L lens. Or upgrade my 50mm from the 1.8f to the 1.4f. Also eyeing the 85mm 1.8f.

1. I have a Nikon D70s.Excellent camera....an oldie, but a goldie.

2. I love it and have no intention of buying a new one.

3. I'd love to get the micro-Nikkor 85mm 1:1 macro lens and a Nikkor 10.5mm Fisheye lens
The Nikkor 10.5 mm fisheye is a great lens. One option you might consider is a zoom fisheye which will give you a variety of fisheye effects. I have a Pentax 10-17mm Fisheye and I love it. I find at 17 mm...if I work away at different angles...it almost, not quite...gives me almost a wide angle view. Tokina makes a Nikon and Canon mount for this Pentax designed lens.

I have Pentax and Canon equipment. Currently I have Pentax K10D, K-m and K-5. Very satisfied, great equipment. The K5 and the K10D are weather sealed and the 5 has a magnesium alloy body. Very rugged.

If I won the lottery....a Pentax 645D ($ 10,500 body alone in Canada), a Leica full frame rangefinder, a Canon 5D Mk. 111 and a Nikon D800E....also a Pentax K-5 11S. Lot's of lenses also are part of this dream.

It would have to be a big lottery. :biggrin1:

I just upgraded to a D600. I've got some great FX glass (24-70 f/2.8, 60mm f/2.8 Micro, and 50mm f/1.8). I don't plan to upgrade my DSLR anytime soon (duh)...

If money was no object, I'd have the 10-24 f/2.8 and the 70-200... I'd probably also grab a fisheye for fun!

If anyone is looking for good DX glass, take a look in the B/S/T...

I'm another happy owner of a Canon 40D, with no plans to upgrade. All of the companies come out with better cameras all the time, but not so much better that I'd drop thousands on a full-frame or a little less than that on a 60D or 7D. (And I just got the new 40 mm pancake; sweeeet!)

I have a Nikon D2x.

I'm giving serious thought to the D600. (Maybe next year)

If money were no object I would probably get a D800 (but I would also need a new computer setup to handle the file sizes.) I was shooting with the 85mm 1.4 a couple of days back. Man what a lovely lens. That is on my wish list too.

I'm starting to take this photo taking stuff more seriously.
i've got 2 little kids and a bunch of crappy pics.
once i learn a. Bit more, i'd like to upgrade my D40 to anything else.
my Dad gave me his setup and hes got a great 18 - 200 lens.

Noted! Thanks for your recommendation!

I have a Nikon D700 and a bunch of good quality (but mostly older) glass. No thoughts towards upgrading at the moment, but when it does happen, I will certainly be considering another full-frame body. I haven't bought a lens since yesterday...... no real lens lust here :biggrin1:

I would recommend you try any fisheye out first...as they are a unique lens and you may find out that you don't really like it..or that you do like it. To reinforce...it's not, definitely not a replacement for a wide angle...but it is ...to me... a challenging and fascinating lens....with very unusual qualities.

I've a Nikon D40 and D200, with no plans to upgrade in the near future.

I'd love to have a D800 with some nice lenses like the 105 micro and 70-200.
