DS Cosmetic D8S9 vs Goodfellas Smile Bayonetta brass razors

Do any of you have both of these razors? If so, would you compare and contrast them? I see a lot of posts about the Bayonetta , but not many about the DS Cosmetic one. Both are good looking brass razors at a similar price. Thanks

I have the S9 mounted on the Timeless Crown handle and I just can't seem to like it but that's probably down to me just not spending enough time with it. It's a Razorock GC clone and it that has a lot of fans here. Fit and finish is excellent though. Pretty good price if you want to try it out especially if you just get the head.

I don’t have both of the razors in question, but I do have the Bayonetta. Let me put it this way: I like it enough that I sent it to Back Roads Gold and had Chris plate it with his 24K hardened gold. If you get one and don’t want the extra expense, a couple hand polishes with Simichrome or your metal polish of choice will smooth out the finish quite nicely.

Both are cheap enough to buy and try. The Reason I say that is honestly, you never know until you use it. Different faces and Different Cases. Plus, many razors have surprised me, just looking at just the specs and reviews my seem to help. But you could miss something that works great for you. I have a bayonetta, love the head. Very efficient daily shaver, it is in my rotation. My only dislike is the handle, which is not a issue for me because of the great price of the razor. Plus I have a ton of extra handles even in brass.
The S9, I can not speak for but for the money, as stated above the R R G.C. to me is a better option if interested in that one. Why:
Price of GC is even better, you can grow with the GC & get different plates, their handles are very grippy...
Good Luck on your Quest,
BFX

oh, I do have the RR GC and love it - have 4 of the plates

How did it plate up over the natural finish, or did you or BRG have to polish before plating?

First, I agree with @ButterfaceX : I'm not all that fond of the handle, but I have two 40 gram Wolfman hollow handles I use for brass or bronze razors, except for the Athenas I have. The Bayonetta works very well for me... against some pretty fine competition....

@DesertIguana , Chris always polishes things before he plates them.... the gold plating on the Bayonetta came out perfectly.... just like the Vintage razors he's re-plated for me.

I have both of these razors, and they shave very differently. S9 is your game changer 84 clone, and has a very wide angle range - I would put it as medium aggressive. Bayonetta has a shallow angle of shaving, and I will say it feels like a softer version of Muhle Rocca. I would put Bayonetta as between mild and balanced, and when used with a sharp blade, can be really efficient

I didn't buy the Bayonetta, I don't want brass that much, but I have several Game Changers and DSCosmetic S9 and a whole a lot of their other razors, so I can tell you: The DSCosmetic S9 and also their V-something brass versions are GAME CHANGERS.

D8 is the .68, S9 the .84 clone.

The parts are fully interchangeable, and they also shave, not surprisingly, very much like the Game Changers.

The Bayonetta is reportedly milder than those. I already find the Game Changer .84P, the SB version, too mild, sooo... I would rather get the DSCosmetic S9 in steel, or titanium, if you want to shell out that much money.

I always recommend SS over titanium. Titanium is always overpriced, and harder to replace in terms of both money and availability. Plus, I like the weight, titanium razors feel like toys to me in my hand. So unless someone prefers their razor light, then ofc its a different story

I've had a couple full titanium razors. I didn't care for the light weight..... but thanks to Timeless.... All their razor parts are interchangable... So I now have two 0.68OC hybrids: one with a bronze cap and a titanium base plate... the other with a titanium cap and a stainless steel base plate... Both are perfectly balanced for me... with a slight tilt toward the razor head.

I use titanium handles on all my SS razor heads... same slight weight tilt toward the razor head.... I stumbled on to this preference by complete accident. I was looking at the Timeless Ti Crown handle on so many of David's / @never-stop-learning 's SOTD photos and fell in love with the look... When I got my first one, I couldn't believe the difference it made for me. I have quite a few of them now and they've improved the feel of every SS razor I have...

This is just one man's opinion.... YMMV, the B&B mantra is in full effect...
