Dry pipe tobacco

Hmmm, so the paper towel touches the tobacco or just absorbs the humidity from being over it?

Back when I smoked we always used a thin slice of apple in the jar.Shake it once in a while.Eventually all the water will be absorbed from the apple.

get 2 plastic bags,2 rubberbands, 1 piece of 1" tubing 1/2 foot long) , 1 thick washcloth(new or very clean no downey in it), and water or bourbon-- place a handfull of tobacco in one plastic bag put the tube on one end and rubberband it ( like a bagpipe bag) then soak the washcloth on boiling hot water , take it out put it in the other bag and rubberband it to the other side of the tube set in sun for a few hours, make sure bags are sitting up as to not drain water , the humitity from one bag will fill the other---------- Now, if you want a bourbon saturated leaf, do every thing the same as above , only---- after taking the boiled washcloth out squeeze the water out lightly and soak it with bourbon, (the washcloth should still retain heat, heat is the key ) place it in the bag-- the sun/bag will keep the rags humidity level

That is one of those old school tricks that was done back in the day. From what I have read it is not actually a great idea, as it introduces bacteria to your tobacco.

another trick , maybe, put your leaf in a SS mesh strainer, boil some water till steam happens, me i would throw a cup of whisky or bourbon in it and wave the strainer over and about the steam flipping and tossing about the leaf till it was warm and mildy moist and throw in a plastic bag for an hour to infuse the escaping vapors ( the vapors never leave ,the bag is sealed , SO the bag must have a tray with holes inside so the escaping vapors have a place to drop) then let it sit out to evaporate and see what happens, it should evaporate Only what it needs to accomadate the surrounding climate--------now if you live in the desert lets be smart, if you leave it outside you will dry it out again, if you live in sweden in december you might want to leave it in the house

-the trick is infusing moisture, causing a high humidity atmosphere without soaking the leaf and then letting it adapt to the surrounding climate-basically mild re-hydration-i am sure there are many tricks to this

i have done many makeshift climate control systems as a merchant marine, ships have a central air system, dry, dirty and crap--so i would set up a series of plastic sheets and overlapping them with catches of wet washcloths , taped to the cieling from the vent---- the outcome was clean moist air, --------no more bloody noses or drymouth---- a perfect climate in my room that i could control with hydrating or de-hydrating a rag-----------tobacco is an organic thing much as we are and must be taken care of------
