Drummers.......

A few more that should be mentioned, IMHO:

Steve Gadd;
Jim Gordon (Derek & The Dominoes) before he lost his mind (literally);
Michael Shrieve of Santana fame.

Yes, and Jaimoe as well.

Saw them in Dallas back in the 1970’s and Greg introduced him as MR. Jaimoe. Very cool having two drummers up there.

Amazed nobody has mentioned Ginger Baker of Cream. You know he has power when Eric and Jack decide to put him in front and them off to the sides.

I'm going to throw this whole conversation off on side track, but as long as we're talking about drummers, I want to bring up one of my favorites (and one of my heroes), Mamady Keita, from Guinea, West Africa. He doesn't play the western-style drum set but is one of the acknowledged masters of the African Djembe. A hell of a nice guy, also! :thumbup1:

Here's a video of his ensemble playing the African rhythm, "Tiriba":

And another one, a little more elaborate production, with additional instruments such as the Kora and the Balafon:

These guys are insane death metal drummers, but at the same time play jazz fusion and just about every other genre. Honestly, these guys are KINGS!!!!

Overheard backstage at an orchestral gig: "Can we have the musicians and drummer back on stage please?"

OK, I'll get my coat...
