Drip maker recommendations

Most of the time, I use my Aeropress, but my 10-year old drip maker has finally bitten the dust (broken carafe, replacements no longer available). Anyone have recommendations on a new one?

I'll throw something different in for you. My favorite way to make drip coffee is to use a chemex as the carafe and then an old Norelco brewer that you can find on ebay. It looks like this but with a chemex...

It's cheap and I love the quality of coffee it makes.

I say go for the $2 melitta pour over available at most grocery stores for $3. It is quick easy and yields an excellent cup every time. Of the several different coffer brewing devices I own, this is what I reach for almost everyday without thinking about it.

Crazy cheap! And you have absolute control over so many variables, if you care to make an issue of them. There are nicer ones too, that clean up better, if that is something you are concerned about. A glass or porcelain one is preferable to the plastic, but hey, at that price, you can just toss the el cheapo plastico one if you think it is getting grungy. Convenient? no, though it is more convenient than a French Press. But it makes as good a cup of drippa as you could ask for. All you need is your pourover, a mug, some cone filters, coffee, and a stinger to boil water in a second, bigger mug or pot. Okay, an electric kettle if you have to get all gadget-y, I guess. Even pre-ground coffee is better when you drip it a cup at a time and drink it right away. Get a cheap hand grinder and some Eight O'clock Columbian beans, and you can't be touched.

Mr Coffee has served me well for decades and I am on my 2 one in the past 30 years and I make a pot every day.

I use a Clever Coffee Dripper most days, and it makes a great couple of cups. My favorite automatic coffee maker is sadly no longer in production, though you can find 'em occasionally on eBay -- the four-cup Melitta BCM-4. I got mine as a freebie from Gevalia years ago. It heats the water to just shy of boiling and makes wonderful coffee ... just not a lot of it.

I would be strongly tempted to buy Behmor's new Brazen Brewer, because of the control it provides. Otherwise a manual pour-over and thermos can be more fun.

Agree. The feature not touted enough about that machine is the manual water release which allows it to function as a drip machine, as a temp controlled water dispenser for FP, and as a temp controlled water dispenser for pour over. One machine to rule them all!

only caveat is to perhaps wait for version2. I love Behmor as a company: excellent ideas, execution, and customer service. They are surely going to make bug fixes and upgrades within the year, just as they did with their roaster. The second and third mods made their roaster waaaay better, so I'm anticipating a similar upgrade with the Brazen.

I have a Technivorm and I still reach for my Melitta fairly regularly, even if I want more than one cup. I almost debated not getting a new drip maker because I like it so much. Used to use it at work too back when I could boil water at my desk.

I have the Bunn, it does a very nice job.

Ditto.

I got one of the Bunn Phase Brew machines when they first came out... I love the design and the fact they don't sit with water staying hot all the time... I should have waited as there were some QC issues with the first few, however Bunn's customer service is great and a 3 year warranty has replace any problems I've had. The unit I have now produces the best coffee I've ever made at home.

I have one and after an initial failure they sent me a new one and I like it very much. However, my wife does not like the small 8 cup batch size and the carafe doesn't keep the coffee hot enough for her liking. Since I drink my coffee right away I don't mind the carafe not keeping it hot for two hours.

I used a Cuisinart for years until I recently was gifted a Keurig for Christmas. It was a quality product that made quality coffee with the mesh filter. I kept the Cuisinart rather than getting rid of it since there are times when a full pot of coffee is the order of the day...
