Dr. Bronners

I saw some Dr Bronners peppermint SHAVE GEL in the market today and was intrigued.. I really like the peppermint liquid soap, and have actually used it for shaving a couple of times for giggles. It creates a decent lather and has a minty/menthol feeling but honestly I just never preferred it for shaving. Does anybody have much experience with the gel? I opened the cap and squeezed out a tiny bit and it seems really thick, and the scent wasn't quite the same as the soap so I put it on the back burner and did not impulse buy.

I've never tried it, but I do like their regular soaps. I strongly prefer soaps/creams without chemicals/additives, so I use Mike's & Stirling (soaps). For bath soaps, I like Stirling as well but also Filthy Farmgirl (bought a bunch of samples and liking them so far).

The shave gel is HORRIBLE! I love Dr. B's regular soaps and had high hopes for the gel even though it was brushless. I was sorely disappointed. I would rather shave with a combination of motor oil and gorilla mucus.

Just perform a quick search on B&B or Google for the shave gel, and you will find numerous poor reviews.

Yes, this. It is terrible. Actually the gorilla mucus sounds quite good in comparison. Not sure about the motor oil, though.

Now you've done it!!! We will get 10 threads on how great motor oil and mucus (All natural to be sure) shave soaps are!
And a few wanting Mike to offer it a really cold version!
And maybe he will!

A friend of mine uses the regular Dr Bs 18 in 1 stuff and he likes its just fine but i think he prefers the SIM i lent him

I use Bronner's as a hand soap. Used to use it in the shower a lot, but nowadays I'm using PdP instead. I would never have even given their shaving gel a serious thought simply because it's a gel. I like real soaps, no softer than Mike's.

Dr. Bronner's produces some extremely popular, beloved, wonderful products. Their castile soap is fantastic, and I use it often for quickie, brushless shaves in the shower, because it's my shower soap.

But, their shavegel is a miserable, unpleasant failure. How they continue to sell it is a testament to the strength of their brand -- everyone who loves their other products is eventually trying out a tube, which will go on until everyone's tried it. Once is more than enough.

Do we have a :puke: smiley?

Multiple harshly negative reviews on this forum, including my own.

The liquid soap, particularly the Tea Tree Oil soap, is good stuff.
The lip balm is nothing to talk about... Burt's Bees is better, but Bronner's is not bad.

The shave gel? Icky. Yucky. Stinky. Gloppy-gooey. Unpleasant shave.

A comparable experience for me was Shea Moisture Shave Butter. Stinky, greasy feeling, and unpleasant. The difference was, as bad as it was, at least it did deliver a very good shave... but my face felt like I had shaved with warm lard.

I have never used their Shaving Gel or Cream, I have used their Liquid Soaps for many years. They used to carry it at the local Ralph's Grocery Store, but they no longer do, they have replaced it with Burt's Bee's which IMO is crap or maybe Bee Vomit :w00t:

The Castile soaps are definite winners. I did put a few drops of the eucalyptus in with my bigelo cream and really got into the eucalyptus zone.

I saw it in a natural crap store but hesitated at the high price, figuring I ought to check reviews first...so glad I did, I don't know if I've seen a competing product with worse reviews.
