Normally a double ring without a case is not worth that much. However this happens to be a very early one with the "Pat App For" on the handle. So it was made before Nov 05 1904. So while a DR is somewhat rare, this is a rare DR. To me it was worth it.

I dono, it has a crack in it... though on the the rarer side it also has a shipper... ripped up, but still a shipper for the rarer of rare DRs.

The seller is mailing it out tomorrow. Plus he's also from Pennsylvania so I should have it by Wednesday. I'll post a photo when I get it cleaned up. I don't know if it has a serial number or not.

You probably would have gotten it. I was real close to my maximum.

By the way did you see the other double ring where the listing was pulled yesterday? It was a 10 day listing. I had just put it in my watch list. And then it ended. I guess the seller was given an offer he couldn't refuse.

Missed that one too (needs to review me search parameters methinks :001_smile

). Not sure if I'd have won or not. With three in the stable, I'm getting pickier too. No case and a crack, but still... Pat. Pending... I would'a gone a bit higher, not sure how much higher though.
