Do'H! - Broke my favorite Tech...

Well...:closedeye
I guess it happens to some of us eventually...

Finished shaving, and set it down on the counter while I cleaned up. For some reason I had set my glasses down in an odd spot and couldn't find them, and while I was looking, knocked my razor off the counter. The head snapped off right at the base of the screw, looks like there may have been a casting flaw there judging by how porous the material was.

So now I've got to find a replacement head to go with my used-like-new handle hand guard. :001_rolle

I've done that myself, in exactly the same place. The inside of my 1965 Tech looked like pot metal and I think it was just cheap casting.

I feel your pain. I was going to use my fat handle Gem Jr, Darth Razor, a few mornings ago and dropped it. The tile floor was too much, broke the old bakelite handle. I kept the head and will someday use it again if I ever find a replacement handle.

I had the pin off of my Feather AC DX shear off when I closed it because it was tightened to tight. Try looking for a pin that they custom make. Ouch. I feel your pain so much. I had to canabilise another razor just to get it to work. Now I have a RG that I cant use cause I still cant find the pivot screw/ sex bolt.

A tragic loss indeed. Hopefully, you will never have to endure the day when your spouse tells you, "I accidentally knocked one of your shaving brushes off the counter today." I was quite sad, when she pionted out the victim --my Plisson HMW with a genuine horn handle, which now has a nice crack in the handle base. :blink:

I would not worry too much about the replacement head for a Tech. The Tech head for the Gillette handle can easily be replaced with a Travel Tech, regular Tech, Merkur Tech Head etc.... I have a couple of iKon handles that I purchased and interchange Merkur, Hoffritz, Gillette Tech, Old open comb Gillette heads and Feather Travel heads with these handles. I have not had a problem fitting any of the heads on the iKon handles. Just keep your eyes open in the Thrift shops, Antique stores etc for a replacement head for a nice low price.

Cheers.:thumbup1::wink2:
