What's new

does aqua velva stand for crappy bottle that spills everywhere?

Does anyone have this problem? Every time I try to pour some av in my hand some goes in my hand, the rest follows the contour of the bottle. If I'm not the only one, what have you done to correct this? I was thinking about taking that little insert out to see if that would fix it.

Just curious on other thoughts. My other aftershaves do not do this, my only trouble maker.

I place my index finger over the hole and let a little out by uncovering a small portion of the hole while pouring into my free hand. Seems to work out alright. If I try to pour too fast, it kinda "squirts" out.

Press it lightly into the palm of your hand tip it upside down, flip it upright still in your hand, you should have enough for your face (you don't need much) if you need more do it again. That's how my barber does it and he explained once that's why it's a little concaved, so it will pool a little. He's somewhere in his 70's so I trust him on it and that's how I do it.

Both the AV Ice Blue and AV Musk have the weird pour to them, however the AV Ice Sport does not. You'd think by now they would have figured out the reducer on the Ice Sport is superior to the other two and make them all uniform.

^^^^Very similar if not the same as what I do. I uncover the hole ever so slightly that I have to shake the bottle up and down to get drops to spill out onto my free hand

Ahh - but if you spill several drops each time you use it, you will have to replenish your supply more often. Ha ha. That's my cynical post of the day.

The trick of Aqua Velva, is precisely the opposite.

Pour vigorously in hand, putting it upside down very quickly.

Also, what spills, serves freshener for the bathroom ... ha ha ha

Thank you guys for the tips. I will try a couple methods mentioned to see what works best.

I agree the scent is nice in the bathroom and since I found that dollar general sells this stuff for $3 I'm not overly worried about losing a bit. I just don't like making a mess around my sink when I'm done.

I don't have that problem so much with AV although you do have to be careful but Mennen on the other hand... I seem to get more on the floor out of that monster hole then I do on my hands some mornings.

I decanted mine into a clear glass bottle with an orifice reducer that I bought online. I think I got 12 bottles for $15 or somewhere around there. Then, I just used a hair dryer to remove the label on the AV bottle and put it quickly onto the glass bottle. Now, no crappy AV plastic bottle that spills everywhere!
