What's new

Does anyone still wear light colored denim?

I see so many people with dark washed jeans now that I wonder if it's still acceptable to wear light denim. I like light jeans because it really makes a navy or black shirt pop, especially during the daytime. Kids like to call them Dad jeans nowadays but dark denim was for old men when I was a kid in the 80's and 90's. Of course, I only like my jeans washed and faded. What do you think?

Absolutely. I have a pair of stonewash jeans which are super light, almost white. I love them with dark shirts and shoes. The big question is not the colour, but the style of jean. You can have dark denim which is sreaming DAD JEANS too. If you get a modern cut, you can't go wrong.

Please Please Please don't say that out loud or somebody might believe you and try to bring back that horrid time!

I am so glad I was not old enough during the 80's to participate in the 80's.

The music was much better though.

I'll admit there was some good music if you look past the ridiculous clothes and hair. If you look past the Foreigner, Winger, and Styx then you can get into some great Metallica(80s Metallica being so much better than current offerings), Slayer, and Pantera. :thumbup1:

Didn't you know? The '80s are back, and this time they want revenge!

I do wear some light jeans, but they tend to pick up grease stains a little too well ... :tongue_sm

I only wear dark denim. Much like the darkness in my soul...waitaminute. I'm not emo.

I like that type of denim in terms of shade. The whole bleached/acid washed/stone washed is not for me. I like the distressed look, but I prefer them coming out naturally, instead of purchasing a pair with holes in them. The natural rips add a character that cannot be reproduced under mass manufacturing.

Oh Lord. When I saw the title of this post the first images that came to mind are the elderly gents you see at Walmart. They wear these sky blue stretch denim jeans usually accompanied by a pair of tan shoes with the two velcro straps instead of shoe laces. I told my wife to shoot me if I EVER come home with that stuff. I don't care how old I am.

Oh, and another thing. Quit bagging on the 80's. I will take those big haired girls any day(fringe jackets and all:biggrin1:) over some of the freakazoid entertainers out there today. Like Lady GoggleEye er... I mean Gaga.

Regards, Todd

I wear the light colored jeans , I admit I am still very 80's. The music and television was much better. I loved the big hair and the dress styles of that time. My wife is also still very much an 80's girl as well.

+1 !!! The girls definitely knew how to do hair back then !!

I prefer the darker washes myself. But, IMHO, cut more than color is important for jeans. Anything with an 80s belly-button high rise is right out. Also, acid wash, bleach stains, and the more extreme stone washes are just bad retro.

And skinny jeans on guys? Whoever invented them should be shot.

I wear both dark and light denim.

I buy a pair of regular dark denim jeans, and I use them till they wear out, by which time they are light denim.

My wife has purchased jeans which, brand new, look like the jeans that I toss out before buying a new pair.
