When it first came out for a lot of people the GC .84 was known as one of the smoothest and best razor out there. Does anyone still rate it as a top razor in their den?

Not anymore ,have to admit.
Since the Lupo .95 entered the den ,
the GC 0.84-P was sold.
But I ‘ve kept a new and
unused one for my
(20 months old ) son ,
which I did buy for him
the day he was born .
He’s going to get also my
GC 0.84 OC ,
which I stashed back in it’s box .

The GC 0.84-P is going to be the
ideal razor for young Constantine
to begin his shaving routine with.
Smooth ,user-friendly ,forgiving and
efficient enough for a youngster’s stubble.

Later on he decides if he wants to
“dance with the wolves”.
I do have also a new and unused Lupo .95,just in case !

I now prefer the brass Karve w/D SB plate and Schick Krona. Haven’t tried the Lupo yet though…
A bit of derailing just to add
that while I think efficiency-wise
the GC 0.84-P is falling between
Karve C sb and D sb plates
(both had a short trip to my den ),
personally I ‘ve found that the Lupo
.95 exceeds by couple of clicks the
G plate ( used to own two razors with
the G plate -brass both,
once used to like it a lot ... ).

Smoothness-wise Lupo .95 is far
smoother than the Karve G plate .
Falls somewhere between E oc and F sb plate ( both owned at the past).
Smooth enough .

A great razor!
You should try it ,chance given .

I certainly intend to if I can find a .95 in the BST, but I’ll probably have to wait until the US/Canada border reopens and I can ship/receive from the states.

My exploding razor knows secrets
RR GC84 is my first full ss de razor.
Of course I now have more expensive razors, some are gentler, some are more efficient. But GC 84 still has a certain place.

It is difficult for me to decide which razor in my shave den is "the best'' because they all bring different or similar feelings to my skin, just as I will not point out which of the gentlemen in the B&B is "best man'' .
Each of you is the best.

At least today, many years later, it is still difficult to beat the quality of GC from the price (I also love my Lupo).
