What's new

Does anyone know if the thread on the head of a Parker is the same as an EJ?

I've been looking for another couple of nice modern razors to add to the collection and I've been looking at the current crop of "horn" handled DE's. Both EJ and Truefitt & Hill do some nice looking razors with faux horn handles but I've noticed Parker do a genuine horn handled DE. Now I've ready varying things about the Parker build quality so I was wondering if anyone knew whether or not I could put an EJ head on a Parker handle? The picture of the Parker looks like it's a copy of the EJ head anyway but if I get a bit of a dud, it would be nice to put an EJ or Muhle head onto the genuine horn Parker handle.

This is the picture of the Parker razor on Amazon. The razor's on special for $59.88 with free shipping so it's not a bad deal.

The razor is listed as an 11R if that helps.

Let me go dig mine out of the closet and I'll try it out. The Parker head is much more aggressive than the EJ.

Mine is actually a 13R horn handle and I head-swapped it with the EJ faux ivory handle DE 87.

I got mine from letterk's site Westcoastshaving.com...he is no longer stocking those but if you PM him he might order you one and I guarantee if he will it won't cost you $60. :001_smile

Thanks for the info on the head swap. I'd already pulled the trigger on the Parker before I asked the question in the hope it would. If it didn't I could have probably pulled the nickel insert out of the horn handle and put an EJ or Muhle one in to screw a head into. I love the feel of real horn so now I think I'll have to look at a Muhle buffalo horn brush in the not too distant future to go with it
