Good afternoon, folks! I was hoping I could get some feedback from some of you in regards to the Muhle R68SR. I am looking at the Bog Oak version. It's gorgeous! My predicament is.....will I get a better shave with the R68SR versus my Vision? Granted, I love my Vision, but I am somewhat bored with it and was thinking of going in a different direction. I love the adjustability of the Vision and I know I would loose that going to a non-adjustable razor. Any feedback you could provide would be fantastic! Thank you in advance for your time! :001_smile

Timmy, I haven't tried either, but I personally would go for the Bog Oak Muehle no doubt; I like the way it looks and I have tried the R89 and I liked the way that head shaves.

How aggressive are we talking with this head? I had a 38C and I felt it was quite aggressive. This is one of the reasons I picked up the Vision was so that I could dial it down if I felt it necessary. Thank you for your feedback! I really appreciate it!

I am looking for something that feels well balanced in the hand and has an incredibly smooth shave.

The Vision is a heavy beast and has a bulky head. A 3 piece unit, such as a DE89, will have a more slim head an be more maneuverable. A Merkur HD or a DE89 would be good choices to start with.

Believe it or not, I love my Vision. I would have a hard time parting from it. Anyhow, thank you for the suggestions.

Well, I gotta say, that is one pretty razor. I wasn't able to get a good look at the head, but my guess is that it's the same head that's on the Muhle R89 and the Edwin Jagger DE8*'s.

I own the EJ 89DL - and I absolutely love it. I haven't shaved with a Merkur HD, but from what I've read the EJ/Muhle head is considered to be a smoother, perhaps slightly less aggressive shaver.

I also know that the Muhle R89 has a hollow handle, causing the Muhle to feel a little “top-heavy,” (which some people really like), whereas the EJ is more center-balanced.

You could drop Jarrod at The Superior Shave a quick email ([email protected]) and ask him what the handle/balance is like on the R68SR. He’s a great guy and has always given me terrific service.

I can believe it. I really like my Futur, which is also bulky when compared to other razor heads. It just that it's not always right for everyone.

It's funny that you say that! I have been batting emails back and forth with him about the razor. He is a great guy! Thank you very much for your feedback! The razor is slowly drawing me in.... Pricey and that's why I am asking all of these questions.

This is true! Thankfully, I have facial hair, so I don't need to get under the nose. This is where I have seen most folks have issues with the Vision.

After further investigation, does anyone have any experience with the Muhle Stylo?

No, but after looking at the pictures, I would say that it's still that same Muhle/EJ head (and that's a goooood thing!) so it's just a matter of how you like the size/balance of the handle.

My guess is that the fit/finish is superb. Which finish do you like? (I'm not normally a butterscotch guy, but I gotta say, I like it)

I would have to say I like the African Blackwood version. It appears as if it provides a tad more grip. I am happy to see people are so pleased with the head. I get such a great shave from my Vision, however, I am slightly bored. That's a lot of money to gamble to "try out" a razor if perhaps it doesn't work out. It should be easy to sell if that's the case with minimal loss.

Nice. :thumbup1: I can't wait to hear what you think of it. I, and many others, WORSHIP the head of that razor (whether on a Muhle or EJ). And then, for some, it doesn't seem to work.

Thank you! I will definitely report my findings! Thank you! Then, depending on the results, I will have to figure out what to do with the Merkur Vision and Dovo stand.
