Does anybody have AT&T U-Verse ?

We keep getting offers to switch to AT&T U-Verse, and my wife is bugging me to consider.
So, does anybody here use this?
We would be bundling everything together, and might save us some money.

A bundle from a cell phone company? I would make sure you have a trial period where you can cancel penalty free. I am old school, I guess, and wouldn't want to rely on one company for everything, IMO. But if finances would benefit greatly from it, might be worth it.

Rated theee worst here in SoCali in wireless/dvr services..jumped to Verizon/DirectTv...couldn't be happier for almost a year now :)
though we have uverse internet/wireless...works "ok" for the $20 a month for 6mbps

We have considered uverse as well. The offers sound great but we get mixed reviews from some of our friends who have it so we have not changed. We have had direct TV for about eighteen years now and except for the occasional interruption from a severe storm, we like it a lot.

Doug

I have cable and internet through them and prefer it to when I had Charter. It's a bit cheaper and I get multiple receivers, other than that I really don't notice.

I don't have them at home, we have Xfinity which I love. However, I work in the corporate housing industry and we have to use AT&T Uverse at certain properties; their customer service is horrible! I would strongly advise against them, unless you like being frustrated to no end if you ever have a problem.

Uverse for net, Directv for telly. No complaints with either. Not really sure bundling saves any money, does it? In the first year of service for net, telly, phone etc one gets the introductory rate but after that I believe the price jumps to what everyone else is paying.

Have it for cable and Internet. At the time we got it, it was the cheapest option for any room dvr for 4 rooms, and that option is pretty nice to have. Other than a pretty limited on demand option and a couple small quirks, I'd say I'm generally satisfied with it.

I have it with Internet access.
I am totally happy with the service, the cost and the variety that they provide.

Amazing supply of on demand movies that are free, including entire past seasons of TV shows etc.

We've never had an outage or a problem and the cost is reasonable as far as SWMBO is concerned and that means a LOT.

Switched over from Direct TV after being jacked around on "maintenance fees" (which I already pay to my Homeowners Association) and being hung up on when I inquired about it. I was already peeved at Direct TV because of signal loss every time it rained.

We have Uverse and they have been charging us for 24mbs for the last 6 months. We had a problem with our router and had to have a tech come out. When the tech came checked our lines, he said that the highest offering in the area was 6mbs and suggested that we call and complain. When we called to complain it took 90 minutes to get through to a "real person" and the response was that, it sucked to be us but they would not refund anything for the past 6 months. I asked for a supervisor and they explained that charging for something that was not possible was fraud. The supervisors told me that if we were not happy with service we could switch companies, and contact a lawyer. The supervisor then said that they had the best lawyers available and that they were not giving a thing back. Needless to say we are switching to Xfinity this week.

I have never had a company that cared less about making a customer happy. It has made me considering dropping my AT&T cell phone that I have had for the last 5 years without complaint.

Wow. I smell a class action suit coming down the pike for AT&T if that sup pisses off the wrong customer. I know of a few very rich people who will spend thousands on the principle of something. That's just terrible service.

We have the service for internet only. Nearly two years now. NEVER one service interruption in that time period. We have the 12Mbs download package and it originally cost $45 per month with a $3 "equipment fee" for the ruddy modem/interface or whatever you want to call it. In the beginning there was NO bandwidth cap at all. Unheard of by cable companies I assure you. And to top it off, they did not even charge us the $3 fee or taxes for the first six months or so. We had a small raise about eight months ago. The service went to $48 per month and the equipment fee is now $4. The total with taxes is $54.53 per month. We now have a 250Gb bandwidth cap(try getting that from a cable co.) and have never received so much as a warning we were approaching it. And my girls stream a LOT of Netflix. I do believe they practice throttling of the service since sometimes things that should stream rather quickly gives a hiccup or two. Overall though the instances are rare.

I know that AT&T takes a beating but I have never had the issues most speak of. Now mind, we use the internet side of the service only. I have heard from those who have the video side of the service that cost increases came pretty regularly. I cannot speak to it. I paid $149 for installation because I got internet only. I know, that sounds rather dumb. If I would have signed on for internet, tele, and phone service I could have gotten the installation for free. Free? Not really. The cheapest bundle to get the internet speed I wanted was over $100 per month. Since that is twice what I was paying for internet two to three months would have equaled it out. And get this. Unless things have changed AT&T does NOT require a contract for the service. Yeah, I could have signed up to get the freebie install and cancelled a month later. That seemed disingenuous to me and more than a bit shady.

I have had bot h DirecTv and Dish Network(over ten years with Dish) and pardon my language but both are **** POOR companies. DirecTv constantly raised prices(sounds familiar) and refused to even talk to me about upgraded equipment without 2-3 year contracts. I ditched them years ago and went to Dish. All was well for about six to eight years and then when equipment issues started they treated me even more flippantly than DTV. I ditched them for Uverse and have not looked back. No, it is not a genuine replacement for television but it works for me. Three of my neighbours have the Uverse television service and LOVE it. Our local cable company was as bad as the sat companies.

It may be a cop out but this is even more YMMV than shaving gear. All of them have the potential to provide great service and all of them bollocks it up regularly. I can honestly say I am happier with Uverse than I was with the others. Hope this helps.

Cheers, Todd

We've had our ups and downs with Uverse. Started with Tv and Internet when it was new. They gave huge sign on bonuses and had no contracts. It seemed they were just happy to have customers. The tech told us how lucky were to be so near the bunker, we'd get a great Tv signal and blazing internet.

And we did.

Over time, the Tv signal got glitchy, would freeze and the sound rarely seemed to match the pictures exactly. The internet began to slow down every afternoon into late evening.

While I didn't dig those parts, it really got irritating to see how low the prices were for new subscribers. Especially since it seemed all those new subscribers were junking up my great signal from that nearby bunker. I called, they gave me a cheaper price for faster internet speeds, but wouldn't budge on Tv service. After checking around, we switched to Dish because the price/package fit was better long term. My Tv service is now better, much cheaper, even though I have less channels than before, AT&T didn't have an equivalent package anywhere close to the price.

My faster internet still slows down in the afternoon and I'm not sure there is an option that fixes that, but I have my eye on the expiration of my price cut to make sure I do something with it.

My roommate and I have had it for 2+ years now, internet and tv. We've never really had an issue. Some of my friends in the same complex have had lots of issue with their service, but it's been smooth sailing for us. They are more expensive than satellite, but IMO they're better. They are most definitely leaps and bounds ahead of every cable company I've ever dealt with. If you can get Uverse or FIOS, do it.

I have had Uverse for two years now and it just gets worse over time. I was happy in the beginning but our cable boxes are going out all the time and they keep charging us for replacements even after they tell us it will be free. I'm going to switch to Sudden Link. I'll never use At&t again.

I've had Uverse prior to where I live now and absolutely loved it! One of the reasons was it had FuelTV. That said, if I had the option here I would cancel Comcast in a second...

The bottom line, cable and cell phone companies are all the same nowadays. You use one until they **** you off bad enough you find another option claiming "I'll never use them again!". I suspect they will be like bell-bottom's and will all come full circle in ones lifetime.

I have U-Verse here in So Cal for internet and television and have it bundled with my wireless service. No complaints really, better than my old Time Warner service. But yeah, their customer service can sometimes be borderline incompetent. It took them about 8 tries to spell my name right on a bill after calling and spelling it out each time.
