Does a Scuttle Actually Keep Lather Warm

I have a Dirty Bird Bill Bowl and am considering getting a scuttle from Julie. My question is, does it actually work and keep the lather warm for the whole shave?

I just ordered one, so I hope so! A lot of the members here have scuttles, so I'm assuming they're worth it and function as described.

with SOME creams..the heat can break down the creams more..so just a matter of finding out which creams dont work as well as others with the heat retention...

Yes. The scuttle will keep your lather warm. It won't keep it hot - but you wouldn't want it too hot anyway, as it would indeed start to break down.

Absolutely! I face lather, but I get it started in a scuttle and whip the lather up a bit in the scuttle between passes. Warm lather is so much more enjoyable going on than cold. No, it's not hot, but warm is all you need.

I really miss my scuttles when I'm traveling and leaving the brush on its base between passes.

Yes.

It was on the cool side today so I used a brush scuttle which kept my brush and lather warm for 4 full passes

A scuttle is a great addition to the collection. I have a DB brush scuttle and I love it. Does it keep lather warm....yeah. Do you need one when you have hot water from the tap.....maybe not but then again if I said that to razors brshes and creams I would be using a Mach 3 with canned gel lol. Good luck!

Yes it works but to keep it really warm I do the following:
i have a kettle to boil my water for the scuttle.
As noted some creams break down when to hot. In my experience QCS creams work great with high heat and Sony break down.
I use a floppy brush that I can 'flatten' in the scuttle to keep it warm. To stiff a brush and it will not work.
It is awesome in the cold winter mornings. Don't use it much in the summer.
