Doc226's Restoration: An Appreciation

Almost a year ago, I bought a used T-I blade with sculpted spine for ~20 euros in a flea market in France.

The scales were pretty shabby, so I ordered some pre-made T-I replacement scales thinking they would fit. Well, they didn't. And not knowing how to make an angled wedge for custom scales of my own, the blade just sat in my "to do" pile for several months.

Enter Doc226. A couple of weeks back, he posted a similar T-I blade with blonde horn scales that he had made for a client. Immediately, I thought of my sculpted blade just sitting idle and contacted him about making a similar set of scales. His terms were generous and he threw in honing the blade as part of a package deal. Wanting to try the Doc edge, I agreed.

Throughout the process, Doc kept me informed as to the progression of things, with photos. Attached below are two photos that he sent me as the blade had reached completion. He even went so far as to send me a video of the blade passing an HHT!

The razor arrived today, stropped and "shave-ready." So I spritzed it off with alcohol and shaved with it this evening. Two passes, plus touch-ups and I had a very nice shave. Had to finish with the Veg in honor of the master here.

So it's hat's off to Doc on this one!

Beautiful razor, beautiful work and all topped off by an act of blind unthinking courage in applying the Veg to your bare skin.

The Unchosen salute you both.
