Do you squeeze your brush bristles?

I don't. I don't see the need, and to me it seems bad for the brush.

My technique may be odd to some. I swirl my brush in hot water and bob it up and down. I then let the loose water drain out of it for a moment, and then I load it on a MWF puck and face lather.

I squeeze the base of the brush and leave the upper half a bit wetter, but not soaking wet. I use less water with Arko, and more water with my Palmolive stick, it tends to be drier and takes a bit more water for me. But I prefer my lathers dense.

Shaking isn't just shaking. A gentle, straight down pump-like shake, with the bristles pointing down, leaves plenty of water, while a hard, whipping flick of the bristles takes out almost just as much water as squeezing hard. Try squeezing a brush after you give it a hard flick, and you'll see it doesn't hold much more water.

I usually start with a drier brush, a couple of good pump-shakes or a gentle flick, depending on the soap/loading time. I find I control the lather better this way. Never squeeze, though.
