Do you only comb your hair?

I used to exclusively comb my hair until I bought a Kent Military Style natural bristle brush. I can only remember having my hair brushed by my parents when I was a little kid and I hated it! My parents used a military style brush then, but the reason I hated it so was that it felt hard and sharp. THe brush had nylon bristles and it hurt! :scared:
After becoming a B & B devotee and reading about Kent brushes I decided to give the hair brush another go and I love it! :001_tt1:

Now, I only use the comb at home to style my hair when wet (you should only use the brush when your hair is dry according to the Kent website)
I also use the comb when I am out and about but, I'm going to get another brush for when I'm at work. They said on the website that it moves oils from your roots out to the ends of your hair and it really does. My hair lays and looks better.

If you are only a comb user, maybe you should try a brush too and see if you agree. I'm convinced.

I used to brush my hair when it was longer but carried a comb when out and about. These days I wear it about 1" on the top and 5/8ths on the back and sides so I put a little product in it and only comb it with my fingers.

Now half as wise
I tried the inexpensive military style brushes from Sally's, but never found they really did the job with my thick hair. Couldn't see spending the money for a Kent under those circumstances. The Kent combs are a 'nuther matter entirely, though:thumbup:

That's easily enough solved. Head over to ebay and pick up a factory seconds Kent brush directly from them. $16 as opposed to the $50 on their website and I double dog dare you to find the flaw in the brush.

I got a couple Acca Kappa military style brushes. One with black boar bristles and the other with natural boar bristles. I usually use the black bristle one when I get out of the shower in the morning and after I've towel dried my hair. I will brush my hair back to get it ready for all the gunk I put in there. Then I use my Kent comb and my fingers to style my hair. I like the feel of the brush and I think it helps, as you say, to spread the natural oils from the scalp to the tips of the hair. I think it also helps get dead skin off my scalp and is just plain healthy for my head. I don't really use a brush much for styling though. Sometimes at the end of the day when I get home from work I can use the brush to tame down the flyaways because my pomade effectiveness is wearing off.... but other than that I use it more or less for the hair health benefits.

....does anyone know the difference between the white bristle and the black bristle Kent brushes (other than the color)?

I bought two of the Kent seconds with white bristles. I cannot find flaw with them. I use one in each hand to brush my hair. They work well with old school products in your hair as long as you are not going for the pompadour rockabilly look. Mild amounts for styling is fine. As to the black vs white bristles I asked Kent when I bought mine and they said there is no difference between them. They do make one model with a white bristle that is intentionally softer than regular bristles. Again, according to information given me by Kent. There has been forum debate about which bristle colour is stiffer. Great brushes.

Cheers, Todd

According to Kent there's not difference other then the color and that darker haired people seem to prefer the black bristles and lighter haired the white.

I haven't combed or brushed my hair in over thirty years. No need whatsoever, just use my fingers to style.
