Do You Focus Your RAD?

I realized that if I don't focus my energies here, I will go broke, and fast. I live in Ithaca NY and have learned that the Geneva Cutlery Co. (a/k/a Genco) made straight razors on the next lake over. Straights were also made in Rochester (Robeson Shuredge), Ellicott, and Little Valley (Cattaraugus Cutlery and Case). I think the Geneva razors are well regarded, but have no idea about the others (and there are many more). In any case, I've decided to try to focus my RAD on just NY manufactured blades.

Not sure this will work, either in terms of limiting my RAD or getting good shaves (since I now need to learn how to hone these razors I am finding), but it's been a fun way to focus my efforts. Do you focus, or have a theme for. your acquisitions? Just curious.

I for one don't believe that any AD can be controlled. They can be subdued or even repressed for a time, but they are always subject to coming back, and being out of control, again at any time.

I focus my AD exclusively on things I can purchase and have delivered to my house.

At first no, I bought and sold anything and everything I could find. I spent lunch hours at antique stores that were in my sales territory looking for razors. After quite a few years I decided to concentrate on better quality razors and reduced the amount of razors in my collection. Yesterday was the first time in several months that I have even been in an antique store and it was because my wife wanted to go. Compared to collecting guns it is a much less expensive past time.

I used to focus on blades stamped 14. But I think I got what I need out of that. Now it appears to be customs

I just try to keep my purchases at one per month. Works most of the time!

+1 Possibly, after 10 or 20 years of doing this might be your best way to control anything.

I sure do, if I find my RAD getting out of control I start to work on my PAD, if that gets out of control I start to work on my TAD, if that gets out of control I work on my FPAD, if that gets out of control I work on my SAD, if that gets out of control I work on my BAD.

+1! I'm working on my TAD right now...and loving it.

if i like it i buy it thats my rad. altho sometimes my rad is set up like a tree. i may tend to favor a certain branch (rad) and climb he branch more often until another branch peeks my interest. from that branch branch im perched on i can still see all the other branches tho.

does that make sense???? short answer is i dont
