Do You Dry Off Your Face Before Applying Aftershave?

Saw one of Mantic's YouTube videos about aftershaves, and he recommends not drying off your face before applying an aftershave splash. He said leaving your face wet (not dripping wet, but moist) means you'll use less product and it will cover more evenly.

I use the Proraso aftershave splash, and I find it less effective if I leave my face moist. It feels like it's diluting the aftershave, and it doesn't seem to be covering more evenly — quite the opposite, actually. Since the Proraso splash isn't that expensive, and I don't use that much of it, I'm not that worried about trying to conserve it by leaving my face wet.

What do you think? Do you prefer to dry off your face before applying your aftershave, or do you leave it wet?

I apply it immediately after I pat my face down, when my face is slightly moist. This seems to be more moisturizing to me, but it could be in my head. I did just receive my 100 ml bottle of Alt Innsbruck today and noticed on the case they specifically state to "'make sure your face is completely dry before applying". So tomorrow ill give it a go totally dry.

I guess this is the case of YMMV.With balms,Ill leave my face slightly damp. With splashes,I want the full wake you up jump out of your pants sting so I'll pat dry and apply the splash.

I do the exact opposite, with splashes I leave my face wet and balms i do it dry.

Never, after i rinse with cold water I dry my hands and wipe excess water of my face with them, leaving a thin layer of water on my face.

I always pat dry my face post shaving. Exactly, I apply the left over lather (like a 4th pass). I then clean my razor. I wash my face with cold water. I pat dry and then apply the AS. It always worked well for me.

After a cold rinse, I splash on some witch hazel and then a small dot of lotion. I think it spreads across my face easier and always leaves my skin feeling great. Diluted? Maybe. But it works for me, so I'm ok with it.

Whatever water is left on my face after an ice cube rub down is what is there when AS is applied. My routine is warm water rinse, witch hazel, ice cube, AS.

My routine is usually Shave, Rinse, Alum if there is much irritation, Clean up sink and shaving stuff, Rinse, Pat Dry, Apply WH, allow to mostly dry naturally, Apply Aftershave.

I don't use Alum too often, Witch Hazel probably 75% of the time. Aftershave is applied to a mostly dried face, whether I pat dried or allowed to "air dry".
