Hello,

I am thinking of putting some brushes up for sale but I am not comfortable using PayPal. However, I am pretty comfortable with Zelle for electronic payment and am wondering if I required payment using Zelle would I lose most potential buyers? I guess I'm asking how common is Zelle nowadays?

Thanks.
Ike

The B&B BST rules are pretty clear, PayPal Goods and Services only. Of course outside of B&B you can use whatever you like.

Here is the relevant text:

"08. For buyer protection payment must be made using PayPal Goods and Services only. Any seller requesting "Friends and Family" or other payments are violating the forum rules and should be reported."

What is your problem with PalPal?

Why do you like Zelle better?

I can’t really give a specific reason for not liking PayPal I just am not comfortable with it. Zelle is an app in my bank account so I feel pretty safe with it if my bank includes it in their offerings.

Well I use a Credit Card with PalPal, if I have problem I use DISPUTE WITH Credit Card.

Had to file dispute on Blue Jean order I never got.

Tried reaching out to company, their customer service just keeps say be patient.

Order was lots, or stolen, they seen not to care.

The problem with Zelle (when it comes to this forum) is that there is no buyer protection. PayPal and Venmo (if using the goods & services equivalent) provide buyers with protection from the seller just taking the money and not sending whatever was paid for; there is no feature for that with Zelle that I am aware of.

The reality is that PayPal G&S does end up having some inherent risks for sellers, and with PP issuing 1099's to people now it can be a drag. But them's the breaks!

PayPal is perfectly fine. Credit card offers the best protection you can get.

Zelle for better or worse is a cashless transaction account to account. Per Zelle “it’s important that you know and trust who you are sending money to”.

I would feel more comfortable wiring the money than Zelle for a transaction. I would have your bank account number then.

PayPal removes all of these “issues”.

I despise PayPal for many reasons, not the least of which is their confiscatory charges and politicizing the transfer of funds. For example they won't allow anything involving firearms to pass through them. What somebody buys should be none of their GD business, so long as it is legal.
