What's new

Do any of you collect blades?

I'm not talking about having RBAD to try out various blades; I'm talking about collecting for the sake of collecting.

Let's see a list or, better yet, a picture!

EDIT: I was thinking of starting a blade collection (new and unused, obviously) and I just wanted to see if anyone does the same.

I have several different blades that I get with razor purchases and I stick them in a tub. I do not intentionally collect them, though.

I have 65 different brands/models of blade, and at least 2 boxes of all but 3 kinds. It started as a RBAD, but somewhere it became a bit more, especially considering that I will never use more than 2-3 of each of some of the blades.
I find that when I see something I don't have I have to buy it. I also keep a list of some currently produced brands that I don't have (Rothbart for example). I do not have any vintage blades and don't want them. So, I guess I'm kind of a hybrid.

i stumbled across some rotbart extra dunn blades which i kept for obvious reasons, but apart from that no.

theyre a pretty collectable thing from what I hear, up there with old matchstick boxes etc.

There is a CD containing over 460 pages of pictures of various blade wrappers and blades. It also has other general information about blades and collecting. I can't imagine anyone having an interest in blades not wanting this.

I got one a while back. It is very nice.

It costs only $6 US. That is not a typo. Six dollars. I forget if there was an additional shipping charge, but that hardly matters.

To get it you need to email [email protected]. It took a while for him to respond to my email, but he did eventually.

I've accumulated a few mid-century wrappers, such as Berkeley, SilverTex, and older Gillettes. It is a great reminder of the time when there were 50+ blade manufacturers and brands in the US alone - The Kro-Man story is great too!
