DIY: Shaving oil

I was asking my friend if he wanted to join for an order of shaving goodies and such.

He declined and said, that he just uses straight razor and olive oil for shaving.

That lead me to try something similar.

Took an old 30 ml oil bottle, boiled it and cleaned it with alcohol.



Filtered around 20 ml of the extra virgin olive oil (above) through a coffee filter, added 10 drops of 100% eucalyptus oil and 3 drops of 100% bergamot oil.

Shook it, tried it and loved it.

If you have some similar things lying around, try it yourself

Note: Many of the "essential oils" sold may contain alcohol, so make sure you pay for what you want when buying.

Nice! Thanks for the heads up. I have a week off and who knows what will be going on. I have few essential oils, different plaint oils and a place selling labware (I'm mostly intrested about their bottles) next door, so who knows

Great, thanks! Although I don't get that many bumps or nicks, it would be nice to know, which would be best to avoid those. I guess the hard part is to make a shaving oil that would: lubricate, tighten the skin and moisten the skin at the same time.

Sounds like a winner, although I recently tried olive oil as a pre shave and had a reaction to it, which is weird because we cook with it almost exclusively
