DIY After Shave Gel

I have been looking for good after shave balms and gels, but I find the ingredients list daunting and suspicious. There are still too many of products with parabens and silicon compounds.

So I just started rolling my own based on splashes which seem to have much simpler ingredient lists than balms and gels:

2 oz Natural Aloe Vera Gel, unscented (go organic if you wish)
2 oz of an After Shave Splash
4 drops or so Glycerin (optional)

Put it in a small bottle and shake until it is all mixed up.

I have made one with Aqua Velva Sport Ice and Brut. They are both great, not greasy and refreshing!
I find these very gentle despite of the alcohol content. If you need alcohol free you can always experiment with Essential Oils to add scent.

Someday I may upgrade the splash component. Any recommendations?

I am surprised that much aloe doesn't leave the skin tacky. I may have to mix up a palm sized version sans glycerin tomorrow to see how it feels. I have used aloe by itself and while very refreshing, left my face feeling very tacky for a few hours.

Of course everyone's skin is different so the plethora of products out there. Mine is super absorbent and will gulp this mix down by the time I get to work, about 40 minutes. I can even put straight coconut oil on my face and it will be absorbed in two hours. This is one of the reasons I have to be careful what I put on my skin. Things applied to my skin will make it into my body fast.

You can add more splash or water, or basically whatever works for you. Also, watch the ingredients on the Aloe Vera Gel. Almost always it already contains some glycerin, thickening agents and preservatives.
