Diving into a Bed of Roses

I just ordered a puck of QCS Rose Otto. I've got Klar Klassic for the spicy-leathery scent, I've got MdC for the herbal scent, and I figured a rose soap was the way to go for a nice rounding out of the scents. Honestly, I couldn't choose between all the great sounding scents Matt had listed on his website, so I just figured rose was more differentiated from everything else I have. What are your opinions of QCS's rose scent? I've had TOBS rose cream before. I didn't like the scent of that one much. It smelled like a rose scented robot to me.

No one has an observation on Rose Otto?

Liking the scent of Rose Otto is subjective and personal but QCS, SCS, and TRoB are the only products that use real rose essential oil. All others are synthetic. Rose Otto is very distinctive, and you'll know whether you like it when you try it.

The reason most rose-scented products use fragrance oils is that rose essential oil is extremely expensive.
There must be different types of rose oil. No way could QCS sell that soap for that price if it had traditional rose essential oil in it.

I think the whole dichotomy between essential oil and fragrance oil, in general, is way overblown. What matters is how it smells, in the end. One of the nicest rose scents I've ever smelled had no rose oil in it al all: it's Hugo Naturals bath soap.

Having said all that, I've never smelled the QCS product. For all I know it might be the best scent ever. I personally really enjoy Mystic Waters rosalimone scent. The lemon just brightens up the rose scent.

Once you have a chance to try it, come back and let us know how you like it.

Randall, we use "traditional" rose essential oil in our Rose Otto (and a few of our other scents). There are, however, other essential oils in the scent as well. When we make our scents, we never use only one essential oil. The trick with creating scents is knowing which essential oils stabilize other essential oils and make them smell more like themselves. Yes, we could use just rose essential oil, but I think having others in there makes the scent smell more refined, more exquisite, and more like rose.
