Discussion Thread for Arran Aromatics - Bay Citrus

Well, I had to bump this thread. I have been a really good lad and have not been buying shave related items since my normal October buyathon. There was a trade with a vendor awhile back but I have been...too good.

I was originally introduced to Arran Aromatics via their shave cream. I purchased it at TJMaxx store. It was obviously a Creighton product and while it performed admirably, the Vetyver scent was not a favourite. I used it up and promptly forgot about it. Arran Aromatics is more famous for bath soaps and other scented items aimed mostly at the ladies. Then a few months ago I noticed that Charles at QED had a body splash and aftershave type product from the same brand at his store. It is only $14.95 for a 5oz. bottle and I was almost tempted to put it in the cart but did not. So today I was mucking around at The Gentlemans Shop and Robert has a good selection of their products including the shave soap. So back to B&B I go since I know if there is a mention or review of this shave lather it will be here. Ah, correct in my assumptions a quick search turned up this thread. I wish there were some responses.

Josh, have you used this soap lately? I see your post is nearly 2-1/2 years old so if anything, by now you have a really great feel for the soap. I was intrigued by the scent description at Arran's site but noticed you did not mention it in your review. Would you be willing to elabourate a bit?

As I mentioned I have been a good little boy lately and if I am not careful my wife will come to expect it full time. I mustn't let that get started. Along with the Ach Brita Lavanda shave cream this one seems to be calling out to me.

Cheers, Todd

I've got this soap, Haven't used it for a couple of weeks as I received some QCS samplers! I'm terrible at describing scents, but - It's very fresh, refreshing, Citrusy (Suprisingly). Really makes my shaving bag smell wonderful! The lather is great too. If you can pick it up then I'd say go for it.

Todd, thanks for bumping this one!

It's one I haven't used in a year or so. Of course, now i'll need to pull it out and give it a run.

The fragrance is one of the best reasons to use this soap. The scent is phenomenal. It's a veggie soap that's palm based, and while it's no MdC, it is quite a bit better than soaps like Pre de Provence. I suppose I'd put it on par with a new formulation Trumper soap.

Todd, there is little to no chance this soap could be a skin irritant. I'll also give an update after a a couple of new uses.

(also, that lavanda is something very special, on point with Musgo Real SC)

Josh, have you had a chance to revisit this soap yet? I would really like to have your insight.

Cheers, Todd

I just used this soap this evening. Took some photo's for you, they're with an Iphone so they aren't brilliant.

Gave me a great lather - scent was wonderful, but as I stated earlier I can't elaborate much more than that!

Thank you very much. This will probably seal the deal for me. Now I just need to find it. Shipping from UK is prohibitive and I am unsure about the States.

Cheers, Todd

Todd, I used it again today.

Just as i remembered, it smelled wonderful and made a great lather. The lather is rich and cushiony, but isn't quite as slick with as much glide as others. However, the post shave feeling on the face is exceptional.

Looking forward to your thoughts!

Just found this description on executive-shaving.co.uk about Bay Citrus:

About Bay Citrus For Men:
A sophisticated blend of woody patchouli, bay and nutmeg, softened by delicate lavandin, cedar, vetiver and lemon.
The natural strength of the island.

A much better description than I could give you!

You can get it off their website can't you?

Probably. But most times carriage to the States winds up costing twice what the soap does. Usually anyway. I may have to check it out but I would much rather find someone in the States to ship it.

Cheers, Todd

Probably. But most times carriage to the States winds up costing at least as much as the soap does if not more. I just checked executive shave and delivery to the States is 15 quid. About $24 according to XE. The soap costs about $22.

If you can't find anywhere that sells it in the US, I'll be heading home from University in around 4 weeks time, which happens to be around 10minutes from Arran Aromatics Gretna outlet store. I'll happily pick you up a puck and send you it at cost.

Alex.
