Dirty Bird owners tell me what you think

I've just contacted Julie at Dirty Bird about putting a Dribble Port on a dirty Bird 1.5 and she informed me that she has already done so for several B&Brs it's nice to know my idea has "legs" so what do you think of your Dirty Birds with Dribble Ports??? and what do you think of Dirty Birds in general??

here is the original link to my prototype scuttle with the original "Dribble Port" for people who don't know what it is http://badgerandblade.com/vb/showthread.php?t=142269

I have a brush scuttle from Julie. It's awesome, very well made, and Julie is a pleasure to work with it.

Don't know what a "dribble port" is, but I just got my Dirty Bird scuttle and I'm extremely happy with it! It works great, looks great, and the personal service and communication from Julie was wonderful! True craftsmanship, and great design.

Hmmm, maybe I should order a backup, just in case.

Did you drop it, or hit it against something, or hit it with something? It didn't break under normal usage, did it?

That hole is the dribble port if you tip the scuttle away from you while mixing lather it lets a small amount of hot water into the bowl to adjust your mix, if you follow the link and read down the post you will see pictures of the water entering the bowl.

do the people with a DB scuttle find the size of the top too big?

I"m trying to decide if I should go with a DB or not.
some people said the top is too big?

the 1.5 is a tad bigger than I would prefer the georgetown is closer to what i want but the heat retention issue is keeping me from possibly going that way right now

I have a 1.5 and its a great piece of gear. Well constructed, perfectly shaped, great glaze work, and worms lather for a 15min shave. The size is great for bigger brushes (26-30mm), if you use something smaller the size one would most likely be good.

Ive been using my DB 1.5 for about a month now. Nicely made, highly functional and Julie is a joy to work with! Depending on the size brush you use the bowl may be a little larger than necessary but this is not a major issue. The only occasional problem I have is that depending on what soap I use, the amount of water I use to mix up the lather and the temperature of the water I use in the scuttle I do see the lather drying out somewhat. Not a big deal and I chalk this up to my still learning how to use this fine piece of pottery. Great heat retention! Glad I bought it.

I have a DB brush scuttle and mixing bowl combo. I also have an original version Georgetown scuttle. I'll take the DB scuttle over the Georgetown any day! It keeps the lather very warm through three passes and, since it's of two-piece construction, cleans up easily.

I just got a DB 1.5 and I think the upper bowl is just the right size for me. I switched from a deep latte mug and this is wider, but not as deep. I always had an issue with my fingers hitting the sides in the mug, don't have that problem with the scuttle so far. I've only had it for 2 days though and don't have anything else to compare it to.

I've had mine for quite a while and I can tell you right now that I really, really love that thing !! Mine is a 1.5 size with horizontal and vertical lines and I use it with every shave. Stays nice and warm for a 15 to 20 minute shave. Julie is very easy to work with and will accommodate any style of scuttle you may want.

I had a 1.5 and didnt really care for it. I'm just not a scuttle guy I guess. The lather would always dry out if the scuttle was too warm and it just seemed like a big hassle. I face lather now anyways, ditched the bowl as fast as I could.
