What's new

"Different" Proraso.tube?

Anyone ever see this thing? I saw it in Pasteurs (did not buy) for like $25. I have never seen it before. It looks like it was the proraso green in a very big "tube" but it felt harder than the cream (more like the soft soap) and I was wondering if anyone had any more information on it.

They only had one.

sorry for the cell phone quality picture :/

It's the large economy "Barber" size of the old formula Proraso Green cream. Pastuer's still has a few left in stock. The new formula economy size of the cream is now available.

well, that makes sense. Is the old formulation better or worse? (i know... subjective, but very generally speaking)

Generally speaking, I've read the new formulas are superior in performance, but some prefer the scents of the old ones.

New ones are parsben free too.

what are you doing at Pasteurs? I thought you were reeling it it. You are always welcome to join us in the sabbatical thread if you need some peer pressure to stop buying stuff

IMHO, the old and new formulas are equal in performance. However, I liked the scent of the old Green slightly more. In recompense, the new Red Sandalwod scent is fantastic.

Hello :biggrin1:.
I have and use the old formulated Proraso barber-sized cream tube and it performs very well for my taste .
The scent is a little bit "heavier" than the new that should be performed as the old one.

I was buying a few additions for the father's day gift package I'm putting together, and all I walked out with for myself was some trumpers skin food (sandalwood) besides, it was too close in proximity to go anywhere else :blushing:

^ I saw your Fathers Day items...I hope he's excited as I am for him. That is a sweet setup you got for him.

Kid teaching Dad something...role reversal. Have fun with it and hopefully he takes a shining to it.

^ Thanks man. I really hope he loves it, it would be a shame to have to take back a fathers day present  (joking)

I had one of those "pillows." My parents went to Italy on vacation a few years ago and I told them to be on the lookout for any Proraso products. They brought that big guy back with them, from a shop in Florence. I think it cost about $15 over there. Hopefully it didn't cost them any bag fees (its 1/2 kilo).

and you still have it i'm sure lol

Surprisingly its one of the few creams or soaps that I finished. I used Proraso exclusively (I didn't even have any other products) for the first 18 months I discovered traditional shaving (from June '09 to to late '10). I would whip up Proraso with a Vulfix 2235 in a wooden bowl that was actually made to hold soap (because I didn't know any better).

Sir, that's just the old formula of the Green Proraso in large barbershop size. You can easily find this and the new formula also in true barbershops here in Italy.

I forgot to mention: this large barbershop size Proraso is called here "vescica" (="bladder").

I can see a whack of possiblities with a bladder of soap, but we won't go there. :001_unsur

OK, just 1 more from a potential Graveyard thread:

Q) What product did you just finish?
A) I just emptied my Proraso Bladder

I saw on shaving.ie that you can buy Proraso barber sized tubes, i think they are just twice the normal size . I think you can get the pre/post green cream too. When mine runs out ill pick them up as it's still a bargain over here considering the other creams I buy.
