Different blades for head and face?

So this question is going to be more geared to the guys who shave their face and head. I've noticed so far that the blades I've used (Derby, Personna blue/yellow Israel, and Asco blue) act very differently on my head and face. The Derby's were just a decent shave all around, minus the two out of whack blades I got. The Personnas seemed to do well on my face, but I just couldn't get a nice BBS on my head. The Ascos are just the opposite; I get a nice BBS on my head, but get a little "drag" on my face and not perfectly smooth.

Has anyone else noticed a difference in head/face shaving? I'm thinking about picking up a second DE so that I can have one for head and one for face.

i will tell you what, i have a full head of hair, but on occasion i cut it off- there is not way i would EVER DE my head, schick 3 disposibles- something soft and curvy

Haha, it really isn't bad at all. When I first got my DE I used it on my face only as I had heard so many horror stories about people losing chunks of face. I didn't have once nick or cut so by the third time shaving with it I was using it on the top/side of my head. After a couple times with that going well I used it on the back as well. A few times later I felt comfortable and did fine using it all over; even ATG on the back of my head.

Oh, the reason I'm glad to move to DE shaving on my head is cartridge razors gave me burn bad. There is NO way I could go ATG or I felt like someone lit my head on fire. DE = no problems and oh so smooth

I agree that blades act differently on your head or on your face. However, I don't change blades. I usually use a straight and adjust the angles to accommodate the difference. Occasionally, I use a DE on my head since it is quicker - in those cases I use a relatively mild razor (red tip Gillette) and a sharp blade (Feather, 7 O'clock, etc). I used a Futur once and forgot to dial it back a little and got a heckuva burn on the top of my head - which seems to want to suck the blade into it. When using the straight, I try to keep lots of lather on the top of my head - seems to do the trick. I've found that sharper blades tend to make the job much easier. I used a Feather AC the other day (Pro Blades) and it was quite fast and smooth.

I've found feather & shark blades exceptional for head shaves but I encountered some drag resulting in patchy face shaves with them. My current favourite all round blade is the Gillette 7 o'clock super platinum (BLUE). They shave great on both face & head

I actually have all three of those in my sample pack so we'll see how they work out. I might give the 7 o'clock blues a try next.
