Difference between Taylor's Avocado Jar and Bowl

Hi all,

I'm new to wet shaving (so new I am just ordering things right now). I'm planning on ordering either the Merkur HD, or the Long handle, but that is for another thread.

I've been convinced by reviews and descriptions of the scent and consistency of Taylor's avocado to start out with that. However, I have a conundrum.

Is there a difference, besides the price, between the "Jar" and the "Bowl" of Taylor's avocado? Some places only have the bowl, which runs around 14 dollars. Amazon has both, with the bowl costing 14 and the jar around 16. The jar has slightly better reviews, but they are both 150g.

I might be wrong but there's no mention of any 'cream-jar' in their web. For me the jar and the bowl are just different ways to name the same thing.

Hm, the only thing is with the amazon pictures one looks like a plastic tub, and the other looks like maybe a thick cardboard tub, or plastic covered with paper/cardboard. I wonder why they have those two different prices. Thanks for the quick response, I'll probably just go for the cheaper of the two if they are likely the same.

It's the same thing. They are from different suppliers who are charging different amounts. Check out the shipping before ordering.

They are the exact same thing. The different vendors are just using different names (and prices) for the same item. They are both plastic tubs. TOBS only sells their shaving cream in either a plastic tub and a plastic tube.

Shop around a little. Westcoastshaving.com and shavingessentials.net both have better prices than Amazon(but check out shipping costs, too). It's a good cream. Enjoy!

Thanks for the advice everyone. I'm mostly using amazon because their prices are competitive with the others (close enough) but mostly because the items I'm buying happen to qualify for free shipping when using amazon. Otherwise, I did check out westcoastshaving (though I think that since that is based in CA and I am in CA they would charge sales tax, so another 9.5% on top of their orders, and I'm almost 100% sure amazon doesn't charge sales tax.)

So yeah, mostly a shipping thing. I think that I will though buy my razor from another company because it doesn't qualify for "super saver" shipping on amazon and is significantly less expensive elsewhere.

There are many prices around for the same thing. There you go.

Now, there is also a 75g tube, so watch that price also! Not only look at the price (and shipping) but the measurement.

One member suggests great alternatives to Mamoth-seller-zon.com....The man behind one of the alternates (hint: it changed from .net to .biz) neither corrects the harmless error nor says a word about being mentioned for the sale. Instead, he offers quality, objective advise to help the new guy. Boy, I know where my $ would go.
