Difference Between Pre De Provence & Provence?

Is there any difference between PdP and Provence shave soap besides scent? Provence Sante, Provence Green Tea, PdP in a tin what's the difference if any?

Thanks

Different companies. Both are great. Both make shea butter, glycerin, and talcum powder shave soaps (Institut Karite as well). All of them smell wonderful, work great, and do great things for your skin. YMMV

A handcrafted version of these soaps that is similar - but no talcum - are the soaps from HoneybeeSoaps (the owner is a vendor on this site or ebay)

I couldn't find the Pre de Provence site, but this will help:

you may need to click on the British flag to get the page in English - or Google may pop up with the page translation for you - either works

I don't think there is any talc in Pre de Provence. I'm looking at my tin now and I don't see it in the ingredients. In fact, the talc is what has put me off of buying Provence Sante shave soaps. PdP also has rosemary extract and sesame oil in it if that matters to you...

Other than the inclusion of shea butter, I don't think Honeybee soaps are at all similar to these.

I concur: no talc in PdP.

These soaps (along with Institute Karité) are known as the 'French soaps' or 'French shea butter soaps'. There are more soaps from France (Monsavon, l'Occitane Cade, la Maison du Barbier), and there is some doubt as to the French nature of PdP as the local tourist information desk knows nothing about a soap maker in their midst, but the name sounds French, so what the hell. The soaps are well-known for the inclusion of shea butter and being completely vegetal in origin. No tallow, therefore. To the surprise of many, they perform extremely well, laying to rest the myth that a soap without tallow is mediocre at best.

PS is an extremely easy latherer and comes in two varieties: Verlaine and Green Tea. Verlaine to my nose is a grandmotherly scent I do nott really approve of. The Green Tea is a temporary product and reputedly has a lighter and fresher scent, so get it while stocks last. PdP is a bit more finicky when it comes to lathering (the soap is harder), but yields a superb lather once you hit the sweet spot. It's scent is freshly sweet-herbal. The product is cheaper per gram than is PS, and contains less ingredients too, lowering chances of allergic responses. (IK I have never tried.)

I spoke too soon. Neither Pre de Provence nor Institut Karite contain talcum. Sorry about that. I made the assumption that since Provence Sante did....you know. Institut Karite is triple milled and the most expensive of them. My preference is still for the PS Green Tea. The Honeybee soaps don't have the look and feel of the French soaps, but they still make a very nice lather and are much less expensive.
