Difference between British Aristocrat #21 and US Rhodium Executive

Ok, despite the obvious physical differences (such as the base blate design), and slightly different style knurling. These two razors produced a year apart and in different countries look like they were made off the same design sketch.

I have been eyeing off the US rhodium executive (looking for one now) but I want to know should I be looking for a #21 as well!

So my questions

What is the differences between the two? Do they shave the same? Look the same in real life?

What is the price range for a nice one of each (not mint and without case)? Is the #21 cheaper than the executive?

Here some MR Razor pics for comparison...

The extra couple of grams in the #21 flat baseplate gives it a slightly different feel IMHO - more weight in the head

There are also differences as you can see from Achim's pics in the centre bar and the earlier open raising method on the #21 compared to the later US method and end caps.

Most people will tend to say the British razors were built better but being the rare US rhodium plated razor the Exec looks pretty nice too :)

Prices for the British Aristocrats on Ebay are overpriced at the moment in my opinion, you might want to wait for things to cool down. I can't speak for the 21 but the Executive is a fine shaver.

Yeah if I was to get one I think I would get it from B &B. I'm more curious about how they compare in the shave department.

Well weight for one like mark said and the Base Plate , Also the one in USA says made in USA and Doesnt have all those Pat No. that the british one has, Shave Wise you got me, I have them but never shaved with them :eek:/ Go Figure ....

The shaving experience with either of these will be excellent. The weight, balance, blade exposure, and feeling of having such a beauty in your hand will be fantastic. The differences will be more dependent on blade & lather & technique. More so than on the subtle differences between the razors. Enjoy & share your stories.
