What's new

Did you ever sell a straight and then think, why the heck did I do that?

I did it recently. I sold a very plain looking Wostenholm and as I was packing it up to post I thought, why did I sell it? It was an excellent shaving razor.
Anyway, I've been looking for a replacement since and I've managed to procure this one.

It's a really interesting shaped blade. Sort of a half French point. It looks to have virtually no hone wear but the edge does need a small chip honing out which won't be too hard to do. I'll see when I get it home about whether I'll buff it or not. I quite like the patina that seems to be unique to Wostenholms but it's hard to resist a shiny blade.

I had two razors that I sold. I felt, as a newbie, I should focus on mastering one blade.

Now that I look back, I should have kept them. If I oiled them up, they wouldn't get destroyed, and I should have just stored them for another day. I feel really stupid, but oh well.

I don't really regret the sale of any razors yet, but I am thinking about letting some of my most sought-after blades go (they just don't see much use), and I'm pretty sure I'll regret it.

The insignia on the tang is really nice and bold. A lot of these that I look at on eBay it is worn off, or faded.

I bet this one will look really great when it's cleaned up.

Only on two occassions but I very much like the people that the blades now reside with so that is some comfort.... I'm never selling any more razors however because I have trouble finding ones as good as I already have in the wild.

That is a really nice blade!

I think I have that exact one. I recently had it restored by Nerdman and Im awaiting for it to return. Great score by the way :thumbup1:

Hmm... Not because I really missed the razor, but when I saw the price I got, yeah.

I eBay'ed a 4/8" almost Mint condition Filly in carved real ivory scales (I had picked them up in an antique shop with a broken blade). I got like $35 for it. That one hurt. Sold a couple Puma's on eBay also that again went for far less than they were worth. One was a near mint 6/8 all original that I got again like $35 for it. I need to learn to take better photos if I'm going to be listing good razors on eBay.

But I'm a razor hoarder, so if I find a razor I like, I am unlikely to sell it. I've got razors I haven't touched for four months, I'll pick them up and start writing a description of them or setting them up for photos and I'll realize I like them too much to let go. That's why I currently have a collection of about 50 razors.

Hmm wait, I did sell a NOS GoldEdge figuring "Why do I need a GE when I have a WonderEdge already," I kind of regret that, since my WE is nice, but not NOS.

Speaking of horse butts…
I had a matched pair of square point razors that were engraved "You Lather Well, I'll Shave You Well", they came in a double razor "coffin" case. I was on a buy new kick and wanted a TI so sold the set. While I later found a single "Lather Well" I would give anything to have that set back.

No, didn't happen, but I did loose my favourite razor...

Max Reul - 11/16 - French Point... It was my favourite and a great shaver... I wasn't experienced much at the time so I can only imagine how it would be today... I got my first BBS shave with that straight...

It was dropped and the blade was completely chipped/cracked/broken, I would have a 1/16 as a razor if I had to make it shave ready again... I'm always keeping an eye on eBay for one... I missed the last one, I forgot to bid...

I've only sold one razor and was fine but I usually say "why the heck did I do that" when I pass on a razor............I do that quite often:glare:
