What's new

Did I do good?

So I picked up these razors off a local listings add for $30. 6 razors, all Gillette. Just wondering if anyone can tell me the different styles they are? They are currently soaking as we speak, and then I will get the scrubbing bubbles out and clean them up a little more. I will post after pictures when done. $DSCF0900.jpg$DSCF0902.jpg$DSCF0906.jpg$DSCF0907.jpg$DSCF0908.jpg

Yes; for $5 each you did very well indeed. Be sure to post pictures again after the cleanup. From Left to right you have a Tech, Knack, what I think are 40's style Super Speeds, a Super Speed Flare Tip and and Open Comb of some sort. Hopefully other members more knowledgeable than I can do a better job with the identities.

in the middle 3 and 4 are two super speed 40's number five is a super speed Flare Tip
I think the last one on the right is a 1920 ball handle Gillette. Quite a deal a 5$.
no.1 is on the left and your last razor is no.6

No, you did terribly. I will bail you out, though. Send me those razors, and I will give you back the $30 you spent.

At $5 a piece, you got a great deal. Some really nice pieces there!

Thanks guys. I will post after cleanup. Not going to heavy as most were actually in very good condition. I will post with codes as well. The ball end does not have a code, just says Gillette and Made in Canada on it.

It does appear to have originally been gold plated, although most of the plating a worn. I'm having some trouble getting the grime out of the handle on that one. It's really in there. But overall still a great piece :)

The open comb on the far right is an Old Type (could be anywhere between 1906-1921), that I know. Far left is a tech, then you have what looks like a long handled SuperSpeed, two 40's (maybe 50's) SuperSpeeds, and then either a mid to late 50's (could be 60's) flair tip SuperSpeed.

Just shaved with the ball end model. Gave a great shave, although wasn't a fan of the Wilkie blade I had paired with it. Will try with a different blade next time to see if that improves the overall feel of the shave.

They have all been identified but all I can say is if you have buyer's remorse I will double your price right now! You did exeptionally well! That is easily a $100 - $125 value for the lot!

Just a few clarifications to the identifications you got so far.

The one on the left is indeed a Tech, but it looks, more specifically, like a British Tech. Handle is probably aluminum.

The open comb razor is an Old Type. Looks pretty nice. Are there any cracks in the handle?

No cracks in the handle. There was a bent tooth that I corrected easily enough. It looks like the outer most teeth are bent in a little bit, but does not seem to affect the shave.
