Did AquaVelva always have menthol?

I ask because I noticed there are versions that say "Menthol" on it, and that seems redundant if the product already had menthol (Regular vs. Menthol)!

The menthol Aqua Velva was green in color. That tells me it was probably a product trying to compete with Skin Bracer; which tells me the scent was likely minty, and thus nothing like the smell of Aqua Velva Ice Blue.

Aqua Velva in the 1970's made a number of scents not available today, such as Surf, Redwood, and Frost Lime. This was probably just another (potentially) short lived variation.

Michigan, that's why I asked. I figured Menthol became the modern day version considering it has "menthol." Too bad about those other scents, they sound nice.

I don't think the menthol became the modern day version. Aqua Velva Ice Blue came to the market in 1935. Prior to that there was a yellow colored Aqua Velva with a different scent; don't know if it had menthol or not. I simply think the Menthol variation was a different scent simply utilizing the well known Aqua Velva name, much in the same way that we have Aqua Velva Musk, and Aqua Vevla Ice Sport today.

Looking at the bottle that was for sale on Ebay, I would guess this was a product available in the 1960's: well after the establishment of the classic Ice Blue formula.

There are a couple of vendors on the "bay" selling a few of the other variations including the ones mentioned here and not for a "king's ransom".

I generally stay away from them because if I like them buying them gets costly and I'm not into rationing AS.
