All the rust came off it could use a tiny bit more cleaning and a little more polishing. But yes this is a very nice slim under the boogers, filth, crud and rust. (Rust was likely from a old blade that had been removed)

Looks much better Than the pictures I would honestly rate it 9+ out of ten it really does not have any blemishes that could not be polished out if one was really ambitious. I will not because I think it could possibly thin the finish and I plan on using it. I have been searching for a slim since I acquired a e4 fat boy about a month ago. I think I might keep the slim around to send as a loaner to friends to try de shaving...unless it shaves better than the fat boy then it is back to the antique malls for another sub 10 buck slim
7 bucks was the price I paid for the one you see above

I don't shave untill Sunday night so I am presentable for our Monday morning meeting so I will have to wait 24 hours to use it..:(
...I try to shave every 2 or 3 days
My face is much happier that way

Good effort on the clean-up. At $29 I would have left it there - was pretty filthy in the "as found" pictures...at $7 it's a steal.

Wow, really nice score and the cleanup made it look great. When I saw that first picture the first thing that ran through my head was "holy cow, that guy has big hands." The Slim looks like a toy in your hand. When I hold it, it looks like a normal size razor. When you hold it, it looks like the handle is as thin as a pencil.

Hope you love the way it shaves. I haven't figured mine out quite yet...but I plan to.

Well if its anything like the fat boy I have it can be extreamly blade sensative. In the fatboy Astra sp blades are a no no. Derby works ok personna blue seem to work fairly well.
I hope the slight variation from fat boy to slim may allow for use of Astra sp blades. But the head looks real similar to the fat boy time will tell

Would you mind elaborating on how and what you used to clean and polish you razor. What a difference, looks great!

That's a deal and a half, nice razor!

The Slims are a go to and easily adjust from mild to wild with many blade options.

Not much to cleaning really.
Hot water with dish soap soaks scrub with tooth brush. You can use a tooth pick to pick any crud off and out of the corners. The wood won't scratch the finish if used lightly. Then scrubbing bubbles to disinfect and further clean. More tooth brushing to scrub off soap scum. Final hot water rinse. I like to work the mechanism under running water to free up the inside gunk.
Then I take caps full of mineral oil and pour it down from the bottom and allow it to coat all the inside stuff after all is dry. Then let it hang and drip excess oil
I used a little jewelry cleaning compound to polish up the silo doors it is a extremely mild compound used for cleaning and buffing gold.

Thanks for that. I will try that on my 65 Slim. I was thinking of re-plating it but if I can get a nice shine I will live with that. One last question with the products you used , do you have to be mindful of the paint coming off the numbers?

testor enamel is pretty cheap so if I lost the numbers I would re pAint
I don't soak for more than 20 min or so and I don't scrub the numbers when wet
Dawn dish soap is fairly mild
And scrubbing bubbles is pretty tame so long as you don't leave it on for more than 2-3 min
