Dhupar's Diplomat - Any Info On This Brush?

Just got this cheap Indian brush at the Sikh Supermarket.
Big knot and nice retro plastic handle, but what are the fibres?
Too soft to be boar, too cheap to be badger, feels natural not synthetic, and predominantly chestnut coloured.
I have a vintage Winsor brush with a similar knot.

My first guess by looks alone would be Horse

Yeah - that makes sense from the colour and feel.
It's a lot softer than my Vie-Long and Arko horsehair brushes but they're both blonde and are more tail than mane

I have the identical handle on an Omega with a boar knot. Nice handle but the knot and the boar.........meh. Hope yours works well for you

Just used the brush with a soap bowl and it did a great job
It feels very soft like hair on the face but has enough backbone to collect up the soap and almost no shedding on the first outing.
Wow! This was only £1.99 - next time I'm in St Marychurch I'd better get another :)

This is actually an excellent brush.
I'm sure it's horsehair now and it works very well with VDH for lathering on the puck.
